Latest News : December 2016

Greetings from Katrina at Crossfire Youth Ministries!
This month we are highlighting: The Middle School Christmas Party
The Christmas Parties:
Hello! My name is Katrina and this month I am going to share a little about the four Christmas Parties that Crossfire had for the Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Ashland crews this December. There were over 140 youth that came to participate in the Christmas festivities at Crossfire, and let me tell you; that was a lot of presents to wrap! But it was worth it, they had so much fun!  A gift as simple as candy and a soda can put a smile on a kids face, and I am so glad that I got to be a part of it. They are precious.

From My Point Of View:
On Thursday night, December 22, I joined in the fun by coming to the Middle School Christmas Party. There was so much energy and excitement in that group of kids; it was a joy to see them having such a great time. A lot of work went into making that party a hit, but it wasn't all done by me.
Something that I greatly value in the volunteers who help on a Thursday night is their generosity. They give of their time and resources by making delicious food, buying gifts, helping to transport kids, playing fun games with them, and talking/praying with them every Thursday night. It is such a blessing to know them and have them on our team; I have been challenged by them in many ways.

UPDATE On The Year End Giving Request:

We are thrilled to announce that thanks to the many generous donations given to Crossfire, we have reached and surpassed our year end goal of raising $50,000! Praise God Almighty! What a wonderful way to finish off 2016… God is so good!

As this year comes to an end, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Crossfire in 2016. We are blessed to have so many amazing people around us and above all; an amazing God.

Together we can touch the lives of hurting youth with the love of Jesus Christ.

Sincerely,
Katrina Martin

Just five more days! 2016 is coming to a close -- and this year, God has continued to provide in unexpected and encouraging ways.

As of today, Eastern Mennonite Missions needs $771,724 to meet General Fund expenses. If you have a heart for refugees in Germany, orphans in Honduras, young leaders in East Africa, EMM workers in the Middle East, and so much more ... this is your chance to give!

Your support undergirds all that we do. I am thankful for the generous, prayerful people who walk alongside EMM. You make it clear that the mission of God through EMM is your mission too!

Give online or send a check to the address below.

Christmas Party!

On December 17, the Lighthouse was all abuzz with activity, getting ready for the Power Packs Christmas Party.  Eleven families planned to attend this joyous occasion.  This is the second year our good friends, Angela & Sean McPeak from LCBC – Ephrata, organized this amazing event filled with kiddy games, a live band, word puzzles, guessing games, crafts, a sit-down meal, Santa, presents, and so much more!

Over 50 people attended and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.  There were candy canes everywhere, fun songs being sung, and everyone's favorite sing along – The Twelve Days of Christmas!  It was so much fun to see everyone try and act out their part of the song.  Some really got into it which made everyone laugh!

All of us at REAL Life Community Services want to extend our Holiday Greetings and hope you and your family will enjoy all your presents, food, and fun this Christmas Season!  Don't forget those in your community who may be in need.  You can help by doing your part and bring glad tidings of great joy to everyone you meet!

Declaration House Update

Transformation is happening!  Since we started cleanup in late October, we have had over 70 volunteers remove over 250 yards of debris including 40 tv's, 24 beds, 20 dressers, 25 refrigerators, 28 air conditioners, and tons of garbage.  Now, the building is 99.5% cleaned out.  It's time for demolition!  We have a long way to go before we can start rebuilding.  There are permits to get, storm water management plans to be approved, and financing.  We are a small nonprofit organization that sees an opportunity to transform this building into an amazing structure!  Please consider what you can do to make an impact in our community by making a contribution to this great cause!  We would like to turn this old hotel/bar into a beautiful apartment complex with medical offices, a community service office, and retail stores on the first floor.

As the end of 2016 quickly approaches, do not forget to consider giving to R.E.A.L. Life Community Services. Checks can be made payable to R.E.A.L. Life Community Services and mailed to PO Box 22, Denver, PA 17517 or click the button below to give online today!
