• Moving into the City, Moving out of the City: What Makes People Move—Join the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society atJesucristo es el Señor (New Holland Spanish Mennonite Church), 24 N Roberts Ave, New Holland, PA, at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 3, for an evening looking at migration. Steve Nolt, Senior Scholar at the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies, will explore the movement of Lancaster Mennonites from the country into the city in the 50s and 60s. Christine Baer of Church World Service, will lead an accompanying panel discussing the current movement of Mennonite-connected immigrants from the city to the country.
• Lancaster Family History Conference—The Thirty-eighth Annual Lancaster Family History Conference presents "New Arrivals in a New Land: A Tribute to Our 1717 Immigrant Families" with a keynote by John L. Ruth. It takes place from May 18-20 at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center. Register at http://www.lmhs.org/events/history-conference/.
• Bicycle Tour of Native American Sites—Catch the fresh air and learn about Native Americans in Lancaster County with a bicycle tour in Conestoga starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 with the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. Manor Township was home to numerous settlements of Native Americans. Participants will explore these sites on a 16-mile bike hike. Bikers will hear storytellers talking about this saga at 14 stops along the way. Registration costs $30, $20 for students. • Native American Beading Class—Come to the 1719 Hans Herr House & Museum for a folk art class on Native American beading on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Native Americans used trade beads to decorate clothing and create jewelry. Beading will be taught by Native American, Lynda Jarsocrak. Students will make a simple project. Register online at hansherr.org or by calling (717) 464-4438. Registration costs $30 and is due April 7.

Now it's written all over the Internet.   It was announced this week that the Independence Law Center has filed a lawsuit after the Boyertown Area school district told a student to 'tolerate' undressing with a student of the opposite sex and to make it as 'natural' as possible. After Fox News' Todd Starnes wrote about the lawsuit, it took off with Twitter messages from Franklin Graham and actor James Woods:     Various news outlets continue to cover this developing story: Philadelphia Inquirer, Reading Eagle, Pottstown Mercury, CBS Philly, Fox29, WPHT 1210, WAVA 105.1, BuzzFeed....   Randall Wenger and Jeremy Samek of the Independence Law Center are working tirelessly to offer their pro-bono legal services to this Boyertown student, who was intimidated by school officials, to defend his right to bodily privacy.   Bottom line: An unwritten policy that removes student privacy rights with no notification to parents or students is not the solution.    For more about this case, visit the Independence Law Center website: independencelaw.org/2017/03/boyertown.   Listen now: Randall Wenger was a guest on The Spotlight program with Greg Barton to give some insight into the Boyertown student suing his school for violating his privacy rights. Click here to listen now.
