GRANT FUNDED PROGRAMS FOR CHURCHES

"Every church has survivors of child sexual abuse--How do we support them?"

Protecting children and offering genuine support to survivors of sexual violence is a part of any healthy church community. Faith communities can be part of the healing process when they understand the dynamics and know how to respond. The programs below were developed to help churches in this mission.

PROGRAMS FOR CHURCHES

For:               The Congregation, Sunday School Classes, Youth Groups, and more
Cost:             FREE  There is no fee to the church for these programs, due to                                    generous funding by the  LMC Legacy Foundation.

Picture

What:            -An Interview Between Your Pastor and a Survivor
                       -Workshop for the Congregation
-Workshops for Elementary & Jr. High Youth, and their parents

How:              Right. It's COVID. This means we are flexible with how we present this
information. If you are meeting in person, we can present at your
location. Are you connecting virtually? We can present over Zoom,                               while still having interactive activities to engage the listeners. Or we                             can record for your YouTube playlist.

When:           We are scheduling programs through October 2021. We are  flexible                               on the day of the week and time of day.

Fwd: Our next Ministerium and a need to make you aware of

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: <revhaws@denverstjohns.org>
Date: Sat, Nov 28, 2020 at 8:00 AM
Subject: Our next Ministerium and a need to make you aware of
Hi  Cocalico Ministerium Participants.

I would like to propose a monthly meeting for Tuesday morning, December 8 @ 8:30 am via ZOOM.  I will send the necessary links and things closer to the date.

Also . . .

I would like to pass on a need that I've been made aware through one of our Cocalico Care Center student's mother who works in the Adult Inpatient Unit for Wellspan Philhaven in Mount Gretna

She has communicated to me that due to Covid, the length of stay and condition of current inpatient residents has lengthened and been more needy.

She and staff are working extra hard to help provide holiday cheer to the patients.  Even more so than previous years, the patients our struggling and are in desperate need of basic necessities.

So she put together a "Christmas Wish List" for the unit, which generally has about 50 patients at any given time.

I let her know I'd pass it along through the Ministerium which likely has churches who have been personally connected over the years with the work and ministry of Philhaven.

Please pass the list along to your congregations if you feel it appropriate.

You can email me personally concerning dropping off any items you collect and I'll be in contact with this Philhaven staff person.

Thanks.  (Don't forget to put the meeting on your calendars and ALSO, consider the REAL Life Services First Friday food/needs collection Rod emailed you all about).

The Christmas Wish List for Philhaven includes:

  • SOCKS
  • UNDERWEAR
  • SPORTS BRAS (NO UNDERWIRE)
  • SLIDES
  • SLIPPERS (NO LACES)
  • PLAIN T-SHIRTS
  • SWEATPANTS
  • STRETCH PANTS

  • WORD SEARCHES
  • ADULT COLORING BOOKS
  • CRAYONS
  • ASSORTED SNACKS (NO PEANUTS DUE TO ALLERGIES)
