Alignment and energy

"Power on."… "Connected." I love hearing these words from my wireless headphones when I set out for a run or climb onto my bicycle. Those words spoken into my ears confirm two things for me. 1. The battery is charged and there is energy present, and 2. My headphones and my iPhone are connected to, and in alignment with each other.

One of the greatest joys I experience in my role at Everence is the opportunity I have as a coach (ACC), to work with high-performing professionals who are committed to and passionate about the work they do. Through my work coaching them and in working with my own coach, I've become increasingly convinced that the feelings of alignment and energy work together to reveal who we are in Christ. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) says, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do". As I seek to understand God's 'handiwork' in me, I've become acutely aware of those things that raise my energy level and the things that lower my energy level. When I can focus my effort and attention in the areas that ignite my energy, I begin to get a sense of alignment with God's plan for my life and who I was created to be.

What inspires you? (and what doesn't?)

Have you taken time to notice those things in your life that raise (or drain) your energy? If you want to try a fun exercise, grab a clean sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle to create two columns. Without thinking too much, in the left-hand column quickly jot down every activity, person, people group, meeting, thought topic, etc. that excites, inspires, or otherwise creates some type of positive energy in you. When you're finished in the left-hand column, move to the right-hand column, and quickly write down all those things that decrease your energy.

Finished? Take a minute to review your two lists.  How would your life be different if you could shift 20% of your waking hours from the right- hand column to the left-hand column? If you can give your mind permission to play there for a bit, imagine living a life in perfect alignment with the handiwork that God created in you and notice what happens to your the energy level.

Powered on, and connected; that, my friends, is the person I want to be and the way I want to live!

Only 4 Days left to give!

$11,000 Matching Grant

Time is running out! Don't miss this opportunity to invest in the Kingdom of God through Piercing Word. Every dollar given to Piercing Word in the month of July will be doubled up to $11,000! Many hearts and lives are being touched, challenged, and changed through the Word of God performed live on stage. We invite you to double your impact by joining us and donating today!

WHAT WOULD YOU GIVE?

What would you give to see a youth group inspired to memorize and perform the entire book of Philippians set to music for their peers? That is what recently happened at Calvary Chapel Church of Lebanon. Piercing Word performed last Wednesday for the Calvary Chapel Lebanon youth as we have often done in the past. But this time was different. They had been challenged by their youth leaders to memorize Philippians in a creative way like Piercing Word. So the week before we came, several small groups of students had memorized and performed either the whole book of Philippians or a portion of it. One group had even put the scripture to music! So after we performed the book of Philippians for them, we had the privilege of hearing a couple of their original scripture songs from Philippians. These students are pressing into the Word of God in a powerful way as they have studied it and memorized it for themselves.

Your gift today will inspire more youth and adults to memorize the Word of God in fresh and creative ways! Don't miss this amazing opportunity to impact your world for Christ by donating to Piercing Word today! Thank you for faithfully supporting the ministry of Piercing Word!

Reconciling the radical reformation

Bogotá, Colombia – The reconciliation process between the Lutheran World Federation and Mennonite World Conference has created fertile ground for collaboration. Ministry partner update: ICOMB - July 2016

Fraternal visit to Platanares, Panama: 6–8 June 2016 - After a somewhat rough, very wet boat ride through rain storms and ocean waves splashing into our boat, 11 delegates from the annual ICOMB summit were welcomed warmly by Hermes and Aleida Barrigon. Their home is spacious; the food was delicious; and the fellowship connected us in Christ.

Prayers of gratitude and intercession

July 2016: Praise our Lord Jesus Christ for the historic signing of a bilateral ceasefire between the FARC (the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, a guerrilla movement) and the government of Colombia. This agreement includes specific plans to demobilize and reintegrate FARC fighters and is an important step toward signing the final peace accord. May God provide wisdom and guidance in this process to end the 52-year armed conflict. We pray for strength for the Anabaptist churches and agencies in Colombia who are committed to work for peace. May the Holy Spirit continue to light the way to a lasting peace, in the midst of conflicts with other armed actors. Read more...

July 2016: Together, we give thanks to our Lord for the service of young people in the YAMEN program. In July, these volunteers return to their home communities and churches while new young people prepare to start their year of service in August. We pray that the Holy Spirit may guide them through this time of transition, of returning and departing. Read more...

July 2016: Pray for northern hemisphere schools in their season of summer holidays. Pray that the break from regular schedule would be refreshing for students and teachers. Praise God for camps and day programs which provide a safe place for children to have fun and learn about Jesus. Read more...

Rod's Ramblings

We need to raise $5,000 to meet budget this month!

I am so amazed at how much we are doing on such a small budget.  It's because of our faithful donors and volunteers that we are able to do so much for our community!  It's time, though, to take it to the "Next Level" of impact!  Did you know that there are 22 homeless children in the Cocalico School District?  We know that there are very few homes that single parent families can afford.  We know God called R.E.A.L. Life Community Services to provide the very things families need to get by in life; food, medical care, shelter, and more….  But we cannot do this without your help.  We know this time of year is a very busy time for you!  Many organizations like ours get overlooked this time of year.  We are very low on our financial resources right now.  Would you consider making a one-time gift to help us meet our budget for the month?

Let's Beat the Heat!!

Annual Car Show at Barry's Paint Shop
Sat, Sept 10th, from 10am to 3pm

You are cordially invited to Barry's Paint Shop's Fifth Annual Open House / Car & Truck Show to benefit R.E.A.L. Life Community Services! There will be food and drink and free ice cream!

To register your vehicle for the show, you must come between 9:30 and 11:30am.  Categories will be; Antique, Classic Car, Muscle Car, Classic Truck, Hot Rod, Sport Compact, and 4x4 Class!

There will also be shop tours, every half hour, airbag deployment demonstrations at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30, a car rollover demonstration at 1pm.  There will also be a mobile dyno (by XIR) for $50 for 3 pulls! The kids can enjoy unlimited bouncy house and train rides!

Lighthouse Transitional Home for Moms

As we finished our first school year with the Transitional Home funct-ioning, we proudly graduate a family on to independence and start our new family out with the gift of coun-sel, shelter, and support as they grow and listen for the Lord's leading in their future walk with Him.  Please keep our Ministry in your prayers, as being a single parent is a difficult place to be and our families are with us to get that support and love.

Lighthouse Youth Center

The Lighthouse has become a place of refuge for some.  Every week we see young people come in excited to hang out with their friends and leave just a bit more encouraged.  There is a greater need to connect to even more youth.  That is why we have expanded our Tuesday night program to include 7th & 8th Graders.

We cannot do this without your support!

As with any ministry, our strength comes from the Lord and volunteers He sends our way!  We appreciate and love each of our volunteers, but each one can only do so much.
Do you have a gifting you can share with us?!  We need help in all areas, but specifically in the area of Maintenance, Landscaping, Janitorial help, and event volunteers!
If you have any interest in joining our cause to keep services offered and growing, please click here.  We appreciate all offers!
