Latest News : June 2016

Greetings from Crossfire Youth Ministries.
This month we are highlighting the Wednesday Elementary Crew. Shown above is our devotions time with this awesome crew.

We have a very lively elementary crew - however, as you can see they have a growing heart for the Lord. They love to sing and memorize bible verses. Generally we have between 40-50 students every Wednesday evening. Many of this crew reflect the 2nd generation of Crossfire and the families and lives God is touching. We value your prayers over this ministry.

Thank you for your interest in what God is doing in and through Crossfire. June has turned into quite a busy month of ministry opportunities and challenges.

It was amazing to see God bring healing to a young man who took a bullet to the head. Within days he was awake, talking and a good memory. May God be glorified!

Our New Hampshire trip was filled with good memories. The Alpine Slide was by far the most exciting activity. Also enjoyed were the Air Bag jump & water slides. On the way home we had a teen deal with a seizure, waited for the ambulance, and took an unexpected detour to the hospital. 3 hours later we continued our journey home. I enjoyed watching the interaction of this crew of 28 build friendships and deal with the unexpected events of the day.

A past Sunday saw a crew of students and volunteers share with the Akron United Zion church. They all did a great job representing Crossfire.

This week was our partnership with Indiantown Mennonite Church in providing meals and VBS for Crossfire students.
The first night 28 attended from Crossfire, 2nd night 36, 3rd night 43 & 4th night 49. All students are bused in. Looking forward to the closing program tonight that involves parents as well as the children.
We are truly thankful for the partnerships with local churches such as Indiantown in helping to ministry to the children in our local community.

We desire your prayers over Crossfire as we seek additional investors into this ministry. We are looking to add a program director in the near future to aid in strengthening Crossfire as we serve the children in the Denver and surrounding  communities
Weekly we continue to serve up to 50 children on a Wednesday evening. Thursday evenings up to 40 children & Friday evenings see about 25 teens. Our Ashland Youth Center draws bout 15 each Saturday & 4-6 young adults on a Tuesday evening. As God continues to bring children into our midst we do our best to share the Love of Jesus Christ with each of them. We value your prayers and financial support - Together we are making a difference.

Please feel free to contact us to answer any questions you may have in considering Crossfire as a future investment ministry.

Thank you for supporting us in Prayer & Finances. You are a valuable part of this ministry Team.
Sincerely,
James L Horning
Executive Director

MWC (re)launches prayer network

Bogotá, Colombia – "It is sometimes hard to understand all the dynamics of what is happening in other parts of the world," says Joanne Dietzel, coordinator of the PA 2015 prayer network; "however, as we share in prayer we become one body."

Deep in our theological DNA

When a red blood cell first met a nerve cell, it exclaimed, "Ah, an alien!" "No," replied the nerve cell, "I am your brother." Participating in the Menno Simons 500th anniversary seminar in the Netherlands in the spring of 1997 was my first time partaking in an international Mennonite gathering. My emotional reaction was to an extent the same as that of the red blood cell: Are these people all Mennonites? Why does their way of thinking differ so much from mine? At the Pennsylvania 2015 MWC Assembly, I experienced this sense even more powerfully!

Meet your hosts for Indonesia 2021

In July 2009, Mennonite church leaders from Indonesia found themselves in a conversation outside a dormitory in Asuncíon, Paraguay. Although they were not strangers, their paths rarely crossed. The three groups they represented had complex histories that included separation and division.

Hospitality transforms

The Conference of the Mennonite Church in India (MCI) has been involved in activities of hospitality since the beginning. Each unit church has stories to tell. My home church is thankful to God for the many privileges of receiving strangers in our midst and ministering to them in a variety of ways. Being a part of this church has proved formative and helped shape my understanding of hospitality.

The heart of a stranger

We have tried to develop the heart of a stranger. And in so doing, we have discovered that the heart of a stranger is actually not far from any of us as long as we are willing to remember and imagine in the right ways.

Prayers of gratitude and intercession

June 2016: Pray for Venezuela which is suffering materially and financially with an unstable economic, political and social situation. People are suffering from shortages of food and staple items. Protests representing rival political perspectives cause added unrest. "There is much to overcome and still face in order to rebuild this nation," says Daniel Aponte, president, Iglesia Evangélica Menonita 'Shalom' Venezuela. "We remain trusting in the Lord and know that only he can change things." Pray that the church would live the gospel amid the uncertainty. Read more...

June 2016: Praise God for travelling mercies. Mennonite World Conference leaders represent churches spread out over vast territories; travel for fraternal visits often involves uncertain terrain with unreliable transportation. Praise God for opportunities to worship and fellowship face-to-face with brothers and sisters in the Anabaptist family despite these difficulties and to encourage one another, as MWC regional representative for Central/West Africa, Francisca Ibanda, and Africa Executive Committee member, Steven Mang'ana recently did on a church visit in Burundi and DR Congo in May. Read more...
