HMS organizes this special event each year as a thank-you to our business community who invests in Christian education. You make a world of difference for our students by sharing in and out of the classrooms, providing need-based scholarships through EITC/OSTC contributions, and helping to sponsor or donate to our events.

Thank you for partnering with us to point young people to a life of integrity based on God's principles for living, relationships and service. Together with you, we are making a positive impact on the future of our community!

Gratefully yours,
Jody Fausnight
Director of Advancement

Business-Student
Partnership Opportunities

The Venture Program at HMS is our non-traditional, flexible high school option to help students connect their learning to faith and life. We focus on making sure that our students continue to improve their soft skills that will make them good students, employees, and community members.

Our 9th and 10th graders spend time job shadowing twice a year. Those experiences may be for a half or full-day, and days/times can be scheduled at the convenience of the business or organization. Our 11th and 12th graders can complete an internship/apprenticeship for high school credit (at least 100 hours of on-site experience) scheduled at the convenience of the business/organization.

Middle school students in the Entrepreneurship & Careers Cluster were challenged to touch the world from where they live by HMS alumnus Jennie Groff, co-owner of Stroopie Company in Lancaster, PA.

HMS uses the Entrepreneurship & Careers Enrichment Cluster and the High School Venture Program to help students pay attention to soft skills (i.e. eye contact, developing strong written and verbal communication skills) and explore their personal gifts to help identify how they can contribute in their community.
So far this year, our 9th and 10th graders have job-shadowed a diesel mechanic, car mechanic, a large animal veterinarian, at a coffee shop, church, hair salon, firehouse, website design company, and graphic design company. Future shadowing experiences will take place at a marketing firm, construction company, greenhouse, and with emergency personnel.

We are always looking for additional businesses and organizations to become a community partner! We want our students to learn from the good work being done by local businesses and their leaders. We invite businesses to prayerfully consider how you can invest in the upcoming workforce by allowing our students to shadow and/or intern at your business, building a mentor relationship with a Hinkletown student or connecting with our students for a field trip or school visit.

Businesses desiring more information on partnerships or internship options for a junior or senior student may contact Jody Fausnight, Director of Advancement (jfausnight@hmsk8.org or 717-354-7100 x1005) or Megan Ament, Venture Program Coordinator (mament@hmsk8.org or 717-354-7100).

HMS Students and Alumni
Reflect the Values of Our Community!NetworkingBfast

More than 1200 guests packed out four showings of our middle school production of Anne of Green Gables in February.
We enjoy reading and sharing stories from our alumni. Thanks to the support of our generous business community, HMS can continue its mission of Christ-centered education that prepares students for life and service.

Wanda Stauffer (1990 alum and current HMS parent): "My teachers were kind and gracious, and inspired me to do my best. HMS has come alongside of us and supports what we want to instill in our children: Love for the Lord, for His word, and service to others simultaneously with an excellent education. I have loved watching each of our children grow in their gifts over the years at HMS."

Annual STEM projects for grades 3-5: Students carried out the engineering process (design, build, evaluate) through six building challenges that involved science, technology, engineering & math.

Loren Martin (1989 alum and airline pilot):
"I really enjoy being...a servant leader...to act and speak with humility and assume the very best about others....Pilots are in a unique position (since) we really can affect how the day goes for everyone else (flight attendants, gate agents, ground handling personnel). When we go the extra step to be a servant to all the 'moving parts' trying to run a good airline, it goes a long way in gaining 'buy in' from others who will then do their best toward the common goal....

My original plan was to be an aircraft mechanic.  I've now flown for three different airlines...and am very happy to be a pilot for Delta Airlines."

See how your involvement is changing lives and shaping our communities through these and other alumni:
