Walk Run for Life – We're 93% There!
They were like Gideon's army!

A scaled-back number of Walk Run participants raised proportionately more than should've been possible. Except for the God-quotient, where all things are possible! 216 men, women, and children – along with our underwriters – raised $238,000 toward our goal of $255,000. We're 93% there!

They walked, ran 5Ks, biked, hiked, skated, shot hoops, baked pies, banged on pots, and even jumped rope for life. See photos here. And see our 8-minute Walk Run for Life celebration video here.

THANK YOU everyone who participated, underwrote, sponsored, and contributed! You're enabling us to serve young families during these urgent times with formula and diapers, pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, and virtual calls for parenting and post-abortion help. God is saving and changing lives!

If you'd like to give toward our goal of $255,000, click on the donate button below. And save the date for next year's Walk Run for Life, May 8, 2021 at The Junction Center in Manheim.
Attention Unregistered Walk Run Participants

If you participated but didn't register ahead of time, no problem! Please send your pledge sheet in as soon as possible to Align Life Ministries, PO Box 707, Lebanon, PA 17042. Thanks!

450 Project
Update on the Moving in Mission Capital Campaign and renovations at 450 North Prince Street
The framing on the first floor shows the layout of the café.
Moving forward ... again!
The exciting news from 450 North Prince Street is that construction has been up and running for about two weeks now! As of Friday, May 1, construction sites were allowed to resume their paused projects as long as they followed specific safety precautions to protect workers from exposure to COVID-19. Our contractor, Dale Hoover of Ashlin Woods, did not hesitate to make this happen, putting together a Job Site Infections Disease Preparedness and Response Plan.

Once back to work, quick progress was made on the hospitality center. As you can see in the photo above, the framing of the interior walls has begun on the first floor which really helps you to visualize the layout for the café  area. Framing of the second floor is scheduled to start next week and then we move right into roofing, windows, electrical ... the list goes on!

While the pandemic and resulting interruption to the construction did set the project back a little bit, Dale is hopeful that we can make up some of the time throughout the remainder of the project. We are still expecting that it will be possible to relocate EMM's administrative offices to the second floor sometime in the fall of 2020 and we look forward to that day.

Please continue praying for this project: for the safety of the contractors, for the health and well-being of the neighbors, for the financial support to come in, and for God's vision and purpose for the space to be carried out. Thank you for your prayers and support!

Coping with a Global Pandemic

As we are all aware, people all around the world are learning new ways of coping with the global pandemic that is upon us. A few examples:

  • In a West African country – The church in a small rural village is not permitted to meet in their recently-built building. So, the leaders held "compound meetings." Since extended families live together in compounds, the leaders visited those compounds and held meetings all over the village. On a recent Sunday, well over 200 attended these meetings. That is about triple their normal attendance!

  • In numerous locations leadership training schools are audio and videotaping their teachings so that students can access them. Students study personally or in small groups practicing a safe distance.

  • A leader in the Balkans, who had returned to his country from traveling in a few local countries, needed to observe strict quarantine for 2 weeks. If he would be found outside of his house – he would be fined the equivalent of $7000 and given a jail sentence.

How are we coping? Just a few things:

  • We are learning to cope with the restrictions that are part of our lives. Our travel plans are on hold.

  • We were disappointed that we could not teach at four schools in the East African countries of Kenya and Tanzania.

  • We are keeping in touch with leaders around the world through electronic communication. Since the beginning of the shutdowns, we have interacted with over a dozen leaders in ten countries. We are learning much from them.

  • These days I (Leon) am studying in preparation for videotaping a course to be used overseas.

Thank you very much for your prayer support these days. Pray that we would make the most of the opportunity that is upon us. Thank you as well for your financial support.

May the Gospel of the Kingdom spread much more rapidly than the spread of the coronavirus!

SEEKING 2 bedroom Apartment – for Bridge of Hope Family

Do you know, or are you a landlord interested in partnering with Bridge of Hope? We are seeking a 2 bedroom apartment for a mother and 2 pre-school age children being served by Bridge of Hope.  Must be under $950 p/month, in the Lancaster City to Lititz area. Not currently employed, but in the medical field, and will have strong prospects when childcare is available after the stay-at-home orders are lightened up.

The benefits to a landlord for working with Bridge of Hope families include rental assistance for the family, strong case management for the family and knowing that the family is supported by a group of Neighboring Volunteers from a local church.

Contact Audrey Metzler at 717-682-6449 or email audreym@bridgeofhopeinc.org.
