Syria and Iraq crisis response Leave or stay? Many Syrian families face that question as international humanitarian assistance dwindles and the patchwork of resources they used to rely on wears thin. Your gift of money helps Mennonite Central Committee continue to provide food, water, rent assistance and winter supplies so families that decide to stay in the region can survive the cold weather ahead. Please give online at mcc.org/syria-iraq; by phone at 1-888-563-4676; or by check, sent to MCC U.S., P.O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501. Thank you!
Please download this bulletin insert to share information about MCC's response to the crisis in Syria and Iraq with your congregation. |

Mennonite Central Committee grocery bags Each year, urban, rural and suburban Anabaptist churches in the East Coast region donate material resources through MCC to be distributed via local ministries. Nearly 3,000 bags packed with nonperishable food items are distributed annually in urban areas, including New York City and Philadelphia. The bags include items such as peanut butter, pasta, vegetable oil, beans and canned fruits and vegetables. MCC East Coast partners with urban churches, who distribute these donated resources through their local ministries. If your congregation is interested in collecting or distributing grocery bags, please contact the MCC East Coast Material Resources Center in Ephrata, Pa., at (717) 733-2847 or EastCoastMRC@mcc.org to coordinate your donation. Thank you for considering participating in this unique opportunity for rural, suburban and urban congregations to connect their ministries. |
MCC responds to flooding in Myanmar Cyclone Komen and monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding in Myanmar, killing 88 people and displacing about 230,000. Please consider a gift to support MCC's response that will include food and non-food items as well as longer-term work on disaster risk reduction. MCC's partners are currently at work assessing places where our response can be most effective. Please remember the people of Myanmar in your prayers. |
Penny Power is now My Coins Count Each year, spare change collected by churches, children and families adds up to more than $600,000 for MCC's work around the world. This effort, formerly known as Penny Power, was renamed My Coins Count after Canada took the penny out of circulation. Visit mcc.org/mycoinscount for more details and My Coins Count resources. |
MCC welcomes donations of prisoner care kits In partnership with Crossroads Community Center in North Philadelphia, MCC East Coast is welcoming donations of prisoner care kits to distribute to people in the greater Philadelphia area who are currently incarcerated or who are participating in re-entry ministries after leaving prison. MCC East Coast staff member Ron Muse, who shares Christ's peace with inmates in Philadelphia as a prison chaplain, said that receiving a gift of basic hygiene supplies when he was incarcerated made him feel "loved in an unlovable place." Please visit mcc.org or contact the MCC East Coast Material Resources Center at (717) 733-2847 or EastCoastMRC@mcc.org for more information. |
MCC kits and comforters Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) has an urgent need for relief and hygiene kits, as well as comforters. Relief kits provide valuable supplies to families whose lives have been disrupted by war or disaster. Hygiene kits give people the supplies they need to stay healthy. A handmade comforter provides not only warmth but also a tangible message to people that their needs are not forgotten. Please visit mcc.org/kits or call 717-733-2847 for more information. |
