June 2018 Newsletter

Monthly Giving

Dear Supporters and Partners in Ministry,

One of the most challenging aspects of running a ministry like TNT is the reliance that we have in receiving financial support from donors to meet our daily, and monthly expenses. Honestly though this is also one of the most rewarding parts of the ministry! We are so blessed by your gifts! Time and time again we have seen God work through the generosity of YOU our supporters. Your faithful financial support is what allows Mike and his team to serve our communities and reach teens with the gospel of Jesus Christ. And we are so thankful for the work they are doing.

Many of the donations we receive come towards the end of the year after families and businesses have evaluated their financial positions. TNT's financial obligations need to be met on a weekly and monthly basis, which is why we are so grateful for our monthly supporters. If you are one of those who supports TNT on a monthly basis, thanks you so much for your faithfulness!

If you are not yet supporting TNT on a regular monthly basis, WE NEED YOU! Currently our monthly contributions do not meet our expenses. Would you be willing to begin being one of TNT's monthly supporters? If so please fill out the response portion of this newsletter and indicate that you would like to partner with TNT on a regular monthly basis. If you already contribute monthly, would you prayerfully consider increasing your support to help TNT.

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, please know how much we appreciate the sacrifice and investment you make to provide resources for this ministry.

Volunteer Spotlight

The TNT Hempfield started at Hempfield Church of the Brethren three years ago, and we moved into Real Life Church of God a year later.  This location is close to the center of town, which is nice since most of our kids either walk or bike. When we moved to Real Life Church of God, we had about six 5th-8th graders attending regularly. This year the average attendance continued to grow each month and we currently have 20-25 kids attending regularly. It has been amazing to see God providing the kids. With the growth of the youth center, we are currently looking for more volunteers to love and share with the students. We trust that God will provide these as well.

Golf Marathon

Our 2nd Annual Golf Marathon was June 5th. God could not have blessed us with a more perfect day! As golfers made their way around the course 5 times...yes I said 5 times, we over heard many positive remarks about how fun this event was. To quote one of the players, "The TNT golf outing was by far the most fun I ever had in my 25 years of playing golf. I had never played a 5 round venue before and it was epic! It exceeded my expectations, and I am telling everyone about it. I am looking forward to next year's outing with anticipation."  We want to thank all the players and all the sponsors who made this day a success. Check out our Facebook or Instagram page for more photos of the day. Thank you also to Louis Hurst, one of our Board Members, for doing a lot of the organizing, both before hand and the day of. We can't wait for next year!

Spring Banquet gives D House Project a boost!!

On Thursday, April 5th, REAL Life held their annual Spring Banquet at     Weaver's Market.  The event was attended by 200 of our faithful supporters.  In addition, attendees heard a message from Dan Jurman, CEO of the Community Action Partnership of Lancaster County and how his journey in social services has evolved throughout his career.  His story was certainly an inspiration to all!  Lastly, we were honored to have representatives from  The S. Dale High Family Foundation attend the banquet to present REAL Life with a $100,000 check for the Denver House Project.  We are grateful for this generous gift as we progress in our fundraising efforts.  If you would like further information on how to support the Denver House Project, please contact Christine Stoltzfus at Christine@reallcs.org.

Live United!

REAL Life Community Services has partnered with 17 other organizations to form the Northern Lancaster Hub.  The Hub will provide more social services in the Denver/Ephrata areas.  We also submitted a grant application to the United Way to finance new programs.  On Friday, we received word that our collaborative was awarded $247,000 a year for three years!  This will go to funding the operations and programs in our community that will work to reduce poverty by 50%, helping children prepare for school, helping students achieve post-secondary credentials, and providing everyone with a medical home!  For more information, check out our website at www.reallcs.org or email us at info@reallcs.org.

Hinkletown School Blesses REAL Life, Again!!

Ah...Spring is in the air!  A new beginning; flowers blooming, songs from Blue Jays and Robins fill the air.  Wait, that means it's time for the annual flower planting and mulching at the Lighthouse!  Each year Mrs. Leaman's 3rd grade class from Hinkletown Mennonite School come for 2 hours and transform the ugly flowerbeds into nice beautiful displays of Petunias and Marigolds, topped off with a fresh coat of mulch.  This is the third year this group has come to bless us and we can't share enough  how much we appreciate them!

"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!"
(Romans 11:33-KJV)
Chris Hibbert - REAL Life's Social Worker
God works in mysterious ways!  That phrase is not found in the Bible but as I work with families in our community I am reminded of His power, love, and mysterious workings constantly.  One day I was working with a client who was is need of housing.  I made calls to find programs for her and was waiting for an answer.  In the meantime, I was meeting with another client who was also in need of housing.  Later that day, I received a call about a new program that was beginning and had just started taking applications.  My first client was not eligible, but the second client was.  She was accepted within a week and moved in within a month.  Had I not made a call about my first client I may not have known about the program for my second client! Housing is rarely found that quickly!   God was at work and I was humbled to help.
Every day, I am humbled to work with families in our community.  Because of your generosity, we have been able to provide an air conditioner for an elderly woman, help repairing a car, food, and vital information for families.   I recently received a call from a grateful client who was happy to report that the client's child had gone through a drug rehab and is doing well.  Please pray that he continues to do well.  Also, as you pray, please remember to pray for the families in our community.  They are struggling with housing, drug abuse, finances, health issues, and a lack of hope.  Please pray for REAL Life as we rely on God to Connect our Community to Hope - the God who works in mysterious ways!

Denver House Project Update

Land Development Plans have been completed and building plans are being finalized!  We have eclipsed $2.1M and still need about $500,000 before we can break ground!  With the help of many businesses and foundations, we are well on our way to seeing the Declaration House a reality!  Stay tuned for more details on how you can help!!
