We are so thankful to have held a full summer of camps. Covid-19 related cancellations have required a reduction in full-time staffing.
Important Updates from Camp Hebron

Dear faithful supporters and friends of Camp Hebron,

2020 has been a year filled with highs and lows. In February, our financial projections were strong, and it looked like we were moving towards a strong year of ministry. When Covid-19 caused the first shutdown of operations, it was hard to know how long it would last and what the impact would be. We were so blessed as a ministry to move many of our full-time staff from daily job responsibilities into working on campaign projects. We were able to complete vital improvements. Donors immediately stepped into the financial gap as groups canceled and summer camp became a question mark.

Under the guidance of our board and the work of staff, we have been able to increase funding through grant writing, acquiring a payroll protection loan, and continued giving by donors. After many hours of prayer and careful consideration of the risks, we decided to hold summer camp and God blessed it! We were able to hold intentional worship, encourage people to grow closer to God, and give so many young people and families a chance to be immersed in God's creation.

As the year has progressed and Covid-19 concerns continue guest ministry groups are still canceling. At this point we are projecting 50% of the income we had contracted in February, summer camp revenue is down, and there is not any indication when things might change. (Total loss revenue exceeds $530,000 YTD) The board has prayerfully considered our financial position and acknowledged that cost reductions were necessary to assure the survival of the ministry. After reviewing all options, the savings necessary could only be accomplished by staff reductions.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce starting on September 1st, 2020 it has been necessary to let some fantastic members of our ministry team go. These team members have a heart for camp and have served so faithfully. The loss of their passion, time, and talent will be felt. In the next week, we will be announcing a celebration of ministry for them. They are victims of a financial situation that is not their fault. These team members are Millie Wert-Office Manager, Connie Shoop- Reservationist, Gerard Schaffner- Marketing & Guest Services Specialist, and Ally Rudy- Horsemanship Program Manager. Sylvia Gearhart-Food Service Manager is retiring September 1st and her position and the one vacated by Rich Reed in maintenance will remain open. If you want to help support the ministry donations may be made online or by calling the office. Please pray for these former staff, the remaining ministry team, and the ministry as we enter this time of transition and waiting for God's next direction.

Blessings,

Deke Rider
Executive Director
