"When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever." (2 Samuel 7:12–13)
The Old Testament is full of indications — prophecies — of Jesus the Messiah. The hearers of those words at that time may not have known exactly who the Messiah would be, but they did wait with great anticipation of who he might be. Today, we have the hope of knowing that we no longer need to wait … the Messiah has come! Jesus is building His kingdom in our midst and inviting us to be part of this mission. This Christmas, as you reflect on the birth of Jesus, may you, your family, and friends be inspired to ask the question, "How is God calling me to help advance His kingdom?"
Merry Christmas!
