Hosting Leaders

Prior to the Mennonite World Conference this summer, the Global Mission Fellowship and Global Anabaptist Service Networks will be meeting for study and fellowship.

Ron Byler, MCC Executive Director, is assisting with organizing this time and is asking for 6-8 LMC churches to host 4-5 of these leaders on Sunday morning, July 19.

Hosting would include inviting 4-5 individuals to attend the usual Sunday morning service and then providing a noon meal in a church member's home afterward. Providing transportation is not required. Please contact the LMC office if this may be something your congregation could do.

MWC

To encourage attendance at both the KC2015 convention and the Mennonite World Conference Assembly Gathered in Harrisburg, there is a rebate available from both organizations. The rebate is available for those who attend both gatherings and have paid in full the adult registration fees for KC2015 and the "global north" MWC registration fees. The attached REBATE REQUEST FORM can be submitted to Mennonite Church USA in order to be eligible to receive the rebate. This is the only request that needs to be submitted by registrants. In August, after both events are complete and payment has been verified for both events, checks will be sent directly to registrants: $50 (USD) from Mennonite Church USA and $50 (USD) from MWC.

Rebate Request Form:

Do you want to experience Mennonite World Conference's Assembly this July 21-26 but know that you can't get there for the whole week?  Don't let limited free time keep you from participating in this global reunion!  Registration is now open for part-time attendance: come for a couple days or an evening.  Find out more at mwc-cmm.org/pa2015.

Prayer

This week, join other LMC churches in praying for the Ethiopian church that is experiencing continuing persecution. LMC and EMM have numerous connections to the church in Ethiopia. Pray for:

  • Muslim Background Believers who are under immense pressure for their refusal to return to Islam
  • The government is squeezing basic freedoms; pray that Christians will have the freedom to worship without threats from all sides
  • Pray that the rise in Islamic extremism will lessen in 2015 and Christians will reach out to those who are suffering persecution in silence
