The Source
A note from our Executive Director, Roxanne Holcomb

Dear FRCC Friends,

Many of you attended our Annual Fundraising Banquet at Shady Maple Smorgasbord in May. What a wonderful evening it was! Shady Maple did a spectacular job making our event just perfect. Our Silent Auction was a blast with many local businesses contributing, i.e.Phillies Diamond Club tickets (C & T Associates), Hot Air Balloon ride(DavCo), playhouse structure (Glick Structures), dinner theatre tickets, too many to list and even some handmade items. Our Clinical Director, Peter Oscsodal was a champion in obtaining gift cards and items from the Centerville area. We raised over $2,800 from the Silent Auction and then over $72,000 from the banquet donations. Our generous table sponsors covered the cost of every detail of the banquet.Thank you to Fisher Brothers Exteriors; Shady Maple; CONVENE/AnnaMar; Weaver Companies; Douglas C. Kauffman Accounting and Tax Services; McKonly & Asbury, LLP; True Edge Performance Solutions; and Dr. Justin & Anita Charles  for your table sponsorships.

Respect and confidentiality of our clients prevent me from telling you real details about a day at FRCC. In one day we might speak to someone who is struggling and hoping to save their marriage through counseling; a rape victim; a young adult dealing with debilitating anxiety; a person in grave crisis; someone just facing a temporary glitch, needing some counsel; someone facing the brutal murder of a loved one. Some of these dear ones are referred to us on the spot by a pastor who makes the call and says, "I've never dealt with anything like this; can you see them immediately?" And we do.

As we continue to work toward a level of sustainability, I wonder...where would they go? We're not the only counseling agency in Lancaster, Chester and York Counties, but the Resource component of what we do lends itself to being available in a crisis situation. I received a phone call from an organization a few weeks ago and the caller said, "I called you because you have offices in the far western and far eastern ends of the county and we are in the center of the county; you offer options. Plus you don't only have Christians doing counseling, you do Biblical counseling." I have to say that was the first time I heard someone outside of FRCC really articulate who we are. We have Christian counselors doing clinical, therapeutic, Biblical counseling.

Many ask about our financial circumstances since we are no longer funded by the Angela Foundation. Since we lost funding, amounting to over 1/3 of our budget, we have downsized to half of our rental space in Houston Run Community Center; revisited our sliding scale fee schedule and increased rates (long overdue); increased revenue opportunities, Church Partnerships and EAP's; downsized support staff and decreased operational costs. These changes have enabled us to recover over $140,000 of the $300,000 lost funding. In June 2014 we determined that we had enough funds in reserves to carry us through January 2015. It is now June 2015 and we determined that we have enough funds in potential revenue and reserves to take us through February 2016...so we are moving forward, growing toward a place of sustainability as we develop a business plan that will get us there, but we cannot do this without the help of those who see value in what we are doing. We will always need the help of donors, foundations and fundraising events, but never more than right now.

My question to you, our friends, is do you see value in what FRCC is doing for our communities?  Will you consider a monthly donation to FRCC? Some can give $1,000 monthly, some $25 monthly...God provides the increase as we seek His will in our giving.
