Nonviolent Communication in Our Families

By Kathy Neufeld Dunn

Communication—it's vital, and it's such a challenge these days! Whether it's with our children, grandchildren, Sunday school students, or other family members, communication is so important, and it takes practice. Too often I assume I'm communicating with another person, when what I'm really doing is stating my own point and then, while the other person is talking, preparing my next point in my head.

The event will include a panel discussion and practical resources. Panelists include Jon Carlson, Brenda Martin Hurst, and Linda Gehman Peachey. Would You Answer Some Questions for Us?

Dove's Nest is rolling out a new survey for pastors and church leaders. It is part of a larger study to assess the impact of our work over the past decade with churches related to Mennonite Church USA and beyond. Through this survey, we also hope to determine the needs of churches in the area of child protection. The results will help us inform how we continue to serve churches and remain in touch with the growing and changing needs related to safety in faith communities.

  • We want to hear from as many churches as possible.
  • We especially want to hear from churches that don't yet have a child protection policy.
  • You are not required to provide the name of your church if you prefer to respond anonymously.
  • We invite one respondent from your church to complete this 10–12 minute survey.
  • We will be happy to share a brief report of our findings with you too.
