The Blessing of Business Partners:
April 4 breakfast features New York Times Best Selling Author
Other Special Dates And Opportunities You Should Know About
Dear HMS parents,
Steve McClatchy is a best-selling author, consultant and corporate trainer. He has spoken globally, engaged regionally and will join us April 4, 2019 in New Holland.
Learn more. . .

I am thrilled to announce our 2019 Business Networking Breakfast speaker, Steve McClatchy, a New York Times best-selling author and success coach. As a father and committed business leader, Steve is a man of vision and yet simple methodology. He uses humor to entertain and inspire audiences, re-igniting their thinking on being effective and strategic business leaders.

Our HMS Business Networking Breakfast will be held on April 4, 2019. It is offered for FREE as a "thank you" to business leaders connected to our school. So save the date for this opportunity!

"One decision can spark a breakthrough transformation
in your business, yet thousands of decisions can
fail to move the needle at all."
- Steve McClatchy

We are blessed by the many ways businesses invest in Christian education at HMS! From hosting class fieldtrips or interns to providing need-based scholarships through the EITC/OSTC programs, our students benefit from connecting to Christian business leaders in our community.

Our Business Networking Event wouldn't be possible without the contributions of our presenting sponsors and hosting business, Martin Tree Service in New Holland.

May our joyous celebrations of Christ's arrival set the tone for a new recognition of God's blessings in 2019!

Gratefully yours,
Jody Fausnight

Some Approval Delays for New or Incomplete Applicants in
PA EITC/OSTC Tax Credit Program for ScholarshipsEITC

Scholarships: Creating a school community that is accessible & affordable for students, regardless of family size or socioeconomic status.
If you participate in the program, here are a few general observations to help keep you on track:
  • Past participants, who applied for tax credits prior to July 1, should have already received your approval letters. If you haven't received yours, please contact DCED (Dept. of Community & Economic Development) to determine what portion of your application or tax compliance has been unverified.
  • Only about 5% of first-time applicants
(applying July 1, 2018 or later) have received approval letters, to date. These application decisions are reviewed & approved on a rolling basis. They are based on available funds and often get held up administratively at DCED.
  • One hiccup for all businesses is a new requirement for tax compliance verification. Both repeat participants and newcomers are discovering that the compliance verification paperwork is sometimes missed or incomplete and sitting in the cue at DCED.
  • One encouragement: the program has $20 million in increased tax credit funding available for 2018-19. More businesses and individuals will be able to support their community schools through EITC/OSTC.
As in past program years, once you receive your letter of approval:
  1. To qualify for the tax credit, your approved contribution amount must be made within 60 days to a qualifying scholarship organization (PA-MSO, Faithbuilders, or another you or your accountant may choose)
  2. You may designate any portion of your annual contribution to benefit students from Hinkletown Mennonite School when you make your gift.
  3. Provide proof of the contribution from the scholarship organization to the state in a prompt fashion following your contribution.
Should you or your accountant have any questions or need additional contact details for a scholarship organization, please contact me contact me contact me at HMS.

Special Purpose Entities
Some business leaders and those who may not be able to receive tax credits through the traditional business application are seeking to do so through new Special Purpose Entities. Feel free to contact me with questions regarding this growing, popular tax credit option.

We are very grateful to the many different businesses who give generously to HMS through these scholarship programs each year.  These EITC/OSTC gifts help provide need-based scholarships to over half of the current HMS students!

You can apply online!  Use the DCED website or this fact sheet for more program and application information.

The HMS Venture Program, for grades 9-12 students, continues the faith-based, hands-on and student-focused instruction that HMS is known for, plus much more!  Missions trips, full-day and half-day job shadowing opportunities, internships and the chance to study at your own pace are some ways the program helps students prepare for vocational and/or college placements.

Businesses desiring more information on partnerships or internship options for a junior or senior student may contact Dawn Landes, Administrator/Principal (dlandes@hinkletownschool.org or 717-354-7100 x1006)
Students & families contribute to make this event possible. Evan Fravel (grade 3) displays the shelf/sign he built with his parents and donated to the auction.
2018 HMS HinkleFEST & Benefit Auction yields nearly $60,000 to support HMS students & programs HinkleFEST

The annual HinkleFEST & Auction underwrites the cost of education at HMS. Through the support of the entire HMS and surrounding community, this event provided over $60,000 towards operating & capital needs in 2018-19.

We are grateful for the many businesses who sponsored the event, donated goods or services and showed up to enjoy the fun!

Extra Giving Options Are Available Every Day at HMS!ExtraGive

Hinkletown Mennonite School appreciates the many generous business owners and other individuals who support the school through company and personal resources.
We encourage you and your business to support local charities in any way that is meaningful to you.

Hinkletown Mennonite School was not listed in any specialized giving lists for the Lancaster County Community Foundation's Extraordinary Give Initiative this year. This is due to limiting criteria and management decisions. But we encourage you to consider other ways you can continue to make special things happen at HMS through your tax-deductible giving throughout the year!  We thank you for investing in students' lives!
