Dear Kelly,

I wanted to make sure you heard these encouraging words as we advance a pro-life culture here in Pennsylvania.

State Senator Scott Martin (R-Lancaster) spoke passionately on stage, along with Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny), Representative Kate Klunk (R-York), Health Committee Chairman Kathy Rapp (R-Warren), and several families to reintroduce the Down Syndrome Protection Act:

"This movement is growing. It's not going to stop. I for one, and everyone on this stage, will refuse to live in a world where prenatal decisions that lead to eugenic practices are going to be ok...This obviously is just the kickoff to what we're going to get done. We're not going to go away. Down syndrome is 100 percent a life worth living."

Watch our three-minute recap of this kickoff event (Facebook | YouTube) or you may watch the full press conference (Facebook Live | YouTube).

We are in a new two-year legislative session and passing the Down Syndrome Protection Act is one of our highest priorities. You can use our Citizen Action Center to contact your elected officials - pafamily.org/protect - or see and share our photo album that was highlighted at the kickoff press conference: 25 Reasons to Pass the Down Syndrome Protection Act.

Here's the reality: In 2019, Pennsylvania will surpass two million abortions performed since Roe v Wade. This year roughly 30,000 babies will be aborted right here in our communities throughout the Commonwealth.

Together, we must continue to invest in ways to reach the mothers and families of these babies to influence these decisions to abort. (It's one reason why we're sponsoring two premieres to the upcoming movie Unplanned and how we can use movies to influence public perception on abortion.)

With regards to the Down Syndrome Protection Act, there are babies here in Pennsylvania whose mother fully intends to give birth but changes her plans upon a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. These children are being targeted in the womb by many medical professionals who pressure women into changing their baby's trajectory from life to death through abortion simply because they have Down syndrome. That must end.

Pennsylvania Family Institute is leading the way to create opportunities to save lives in Pennsylvania. Opportunities like this year's Down Syndrome Protection Act or the abortion clinic regulations law passed in 2012 that has helped shut down six abortion clinics. Opportunities we find in the court system to improve communities or to literally stop an abortion from occurring on a girl who is being coerced into the abortion decision.

Thanks to your partnership with us, we can make the most of these opportunities. And just as Senator Martin said, together we are not going away. Thank you for being a part of this growing movement. We will not stop until Pennsylvania is a place where all life is cherished. May it be so

Sincerely,

Michael Geer
