Subject: Announcing PRC Community Initiatives!
To: <philandkelly@gmail.com>

PRC is developing a series of initiatives that will allow us to nimbly coordinate wide reaching responses to social equity issues impacting our region or the country at large, such as poverty, immigration, and social conflicts calling for restorative justice approaches. We are supporting the important work of the churches and nonprofits we work with daily, while also offering them concrete ways to make a difference in major issues that face our community, our region, and our nation.

Yesterday A, an asylee-seeker held at York Detention Center, was released. PRC found out around 11am that he would be released at 5pm. We moved quickly- buying him a bus ticket, finding him a host for the night, calling volunteers to provide transportation, and ensuring A had some basic necessities, like a toothbrush.

Around 1pm, we found out R had won his asylum case and would also be released at 5pm. We called everyone back and our amazing volunteers stepped up, hosting and transporting and supplying for two. A and R got on their bus this morning and are both traveling to the welcoming arms of churches, willing to undertake the long process of helping them resettle.

Help us ensure no asylum-seeker is released from York into homelessness, spends 48 hours on a bus with no food, or is held in detention away from their loved ones unnecessarily. Donations fund bonds, bus tickets, travel kits, and our efforts to build the necessary resettlement network. Get involved by collecting items and assembling travel kits with your church or by donating today!

Not sure where to start? Start by educating yourself to the issue! Hear from Alyssa Kane and Ryan Brunsink, attorneys who work in immigration law for respected, local nonprofits. They will offer an introduction to the immigration system and explain how it's been changing. Hear how PRC and partners are working in immigration and how you can be involved.

In 2002, the Community Meal Program began in Lancaster, which provides over 100,000 meals every year! PRC is working to provide long-term volunteer support, food safety trainings, and affordable, nutritious meals for this vital program. In the immediate future, PRC is working with community partners to promote the Community Meal—whether volunteering or dining—as an effective approach to alleviating social isolation, especially for senior citizens.

Whether through supporting Community Meals or by helping to organize the churches in Lancaster County to forgive medical debt, PRC is committed to supporting our churches as they provide crucial front-line support for the vulnerable in their community.

PRC offers regular workshops and trainings in Restorative Justice, including trauma, healthy communication, and conflict resolution. PRC will continue to expand our offerings in restorative justice to include additional topics led by local and nationally-recognized practitioners.

In January 2020, PRC launched The Restorative Justice Book Fund, an initiative focused on offering cutting edge books at a low cost to restorative justice practitioners across the country. You donation of $10 can fund one book!
