Dear Friends,

I hope you and your family are safe and healthy during this time of pandemic. And I hope it stays that way for you. At this time of great concern for us all, please be assured that you, and all others who support Mennonite Disaster Service, remain in my prayers.

The pandemic has affected us at MDS, too. On March 13 we suspended the repair and rebuilding of homes in communities across the U.S. and Canada. We will resume responding, rebuilding, and restoring disaster damaged homes once it is safe to do so. In the meantime, volunteers are sewing face masks and finding creative and resourceful ways to provide support in their communities.

In the face of COVID-19, many of us feel helpless. What can we do besides pray and stay home? (As important as that is!) Many would like to do more. But what?

In response to the growing needs associated with the pandemic, organizations around the country are promoting #GivingTuesdayNow. We invite you to participate by making a donation toward a cause of your choice.

Your gift to MDS will position volunteers to resume our mission of responding, rebuilding and restoring once it is safe to do so. Your continued support will help us start things back up— recruiting volunteers, moving equipment, setting up accommodations, replenishing supplies, and many other things needed to get going.

Thanks for considering a gift if you are able to do so.

Again, may you stay safe and healthy. And may God bless you during this challenging time.

Sincerely,
Kevin King
MDS Executive Director
MDS Executive Director, Kevin King, gives an update - Mennonite Disaster Service Unit volunteers are making protective masks; partnering with Everence and Mennonite Central Committee to create a Congregational Relief Fund to aid churches harmed by the pandemic.
