LMC Office Events & Information

MKC Presentation by MKC President Desalegn and Principal Gishu Jebecha
Meserte Kristos Church President, Desalegn Abebe, and MK College/Seminary Principal Gishu Jebecha will report on the life and ministry of MKC Tuesday Evening June 6, at 7:00 pm at Stumptown Mennonite Church; located at 2813 Stumptown Rd. Bird in Hand, PA.

Both President Desalegn and Principal Gishu are visiting LMC & EMM along with MK College's interests in Lancaster in early June.  You and others are urged to attend this open meeting to hear President Desalegn and Principal Gishu share the challenges and triumphs of the Holy Spirit at work in the life of MKC. Included in their sharing will be an update on the ravages of the drought in Eastern Ethiopia.  EMM and LMC have issued a joint appeal for funds to help provide emergency assistance in Eastern Ethiopia. This is your chance to hear more about how you and your church can be part of this international response.

MKC and LMC/EMM have historic connections starting 75 years ago when EMM sent missionaries to Ethiopia. Churches were established, local leaders raised up, and through difficult years and seasons, including a period of years when the church was underground, have remarkably grown into a church family of about 800,000 people making it the largest Mennonite-affiliated church in the world.

Please attend and invite others.

"What's happening at the border?".
During a tumultuous time in history surrounding America's borders, we have decided to host key voices that can bring clarity to what's happening on the Southern border of the USA. This event is done in collaboration with WeWelcome, an organization that provides space for people in PA to collaborate and advocate for our new neighbors. We will be discussing the realities of the stories at the border, the shift surrounding Title 42, and our part in advocacy.
There will be a short film and a panel discussion with a local pastor, a shelter director and a retired border patrol officer. No RSVP is required.

Peace of Mind & Wellness from Within

In-Person Seminar on Continuing Care at Home

Tuesday, May 23rd, 1:00 - 2:30 pm

High Foundation Auditorium at Landis Homes

1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz PA 17543

Landis Communities & Friends Life Care have collaborated to offer flexible and comprehensive long-term care plans that include expert care coordination and home care services.

The team from Friends Life Care provides the peace of mind that someone is there to provide guidance when more care is needed, in addition to finances when costs are needed to be covered. A Care Coordinator, such as Patti Vogl, is assigned to work with the client from day one and will assist with achieving wellness goals and help coordinate any required care.

"Meeting with members isn't just about assessing their aspects of living. Sometimes, it's just walking and talking, listening to them and supporting them." Patti additionally tours member homes to make sure there are no fall risks and safety concerns. She talks with clients about everything that has to do with wellness.

Mennonite Life Offers Intro to Cemetery Research Class

Mennonite Life offers an Intro to Cemetery Research class on Saturday, June 3, 9:30am – 11:30am. The class begins at the Mennonite Life library and concludes with a visit to a local cemetery for demonstrations and hands-on research experience. The cost is $35 per person, and the class will be limited to 30 participants. Register by May 31 at mennonitelife.org or by calling 717-393-9745.

If you are beginning family history research, this class, led by James C. Landis, will be invaluable for learning what to expect on your research journey and where to locate private cemetery and burial records. In today's information-intense environment, it is hard to believe this basic fact: there are almost no public records regarding who is buried in which cemetery.

Share an article for the Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage journal

Do you have a family story that demonstrates what it has meant to be a Mennonite? Consider sharing your family story with Mennonite Life for consideration in Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage, a quarterly journal covering history, culture, religious thought and family histories of Amish and Mennonite-related groups originating in Pennsylvania. Send your idea or story to pmh@mennonitelife.org for consideration.
