Blue Marsh Canoe Exploration

Come with a friend or bring the family for a morning of canoeing exploration at Blue Marsh Lake. We can look for wildlife and enjoy creation on the lake. Don't worry if you've never been canoeing before; this activity is designed for beginners. Canoes and gear are provided along with a basic canoeing lesson. Transportation between Woodcrest Retreat and Blue Marsh is provided. Bring a packed lunch along because we'll begin and end our canoeing at a grassy area that's perfect for a picnic and games!

Time: 9am-2pm
Cost: $40 per canoe

At least 2 people are required to operate each canoe. A limited number of non-paddling passengers are permitted. You will need to list all paddlers and riders when registering.

View this email in your browser Since 1933, LBC has maintained its mission to educate Christian students to think and live a biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him in the Church and society. Our focus is on your journey to fulfill God's purpose in your life. In a larger sense, however, our mission is to serve the local church, and one way we do that is through our eQuip program. eQuip is LBC's continuing education program that focuses on biblical enrichment classes.  People from your congregation can register for courses and receive continuing education units (CEUs) upon completion of a course. Fall classes begin August 20, and we have one class we think might be of particular interest to your ministry: Volunteer Engagement, taught by Pastor Jon Brady. This course offers a step-by-step approach to attracting and retaining an abundance of volunteers. During the course, students will explore topics such as ministry mindset, mobilizing volunteers and suggestions for cultivating and reproducing servants. The second course offered is Survey of the Pentateuch, taught by Professor Rich Ragan. This course surveys the books of the Pentateuch placing special emphasis on biblical beginnings and the development of the covenants as foundation for God's working in the rest of Scripture. It is part of our ongoing biblical enrichment series, focusing on Bible study and knowing God's Word more deeply. Individual tuition is $99. For groups of 5 or more, the tuition is $49 Class sessions are held at our Lancaster, PA campus. July has been a busy month for Piercing Word—read all about it here!

July has been a great month for Piercing Word! View this email in your browser God moved through Summer Camp 2018! "This is the closest to God that I have ever felt!" said one of our campers to his counselor during this year's summer camp.  And it is no wonder! These kids studied, memorized, and performed many of the parables of Jesus, as well as 30 different Psalms over the course of one week! "This camp was an answer to prayer," exclaimed a parent of a summer camper at the end of a fast-paced week of scripture performance, fun team games, and acting workshops. From July 9-14, Piercing Word was blessed with 53 fantastic summer campers, ages 10-18!  Throughout the week they joined in daily devotions, participated in workshops and classes for acting, singing, stage combat, and mime, saw JESUS at Sight and Sound Theatres and enjoyed a backstage tour! They also worked in teams during recreation time throughout the week to earn "Rec Points" by playing games and memorizing scripture to be crowned Rec Champion (Congrats to team "Green Eggs and Ham" for their victory!). At the end of the week, they presented Scripture Performances for 350 of their family and friends. Thanks for making this year such a huge success through your prayers and support! Introducing our new Office Manager:   Geoffrey Morgan! Geoffery is thrilled to be joining the team at Piercing Word as the Office Manager! Geoffery is a professional singer and actor and is part of Piercing Word's current scripture presentation, Ecclesiastes. Geoffery has always had a love of music and that led him into singing and performing at a very young age. He has spent the last three years now working as a professional singer and actor throughout VA, DC and PA and is excited to see where this next step may lead. Outside of the performance world, Geoffery has had vast experience in management as well as event coordination and planning. He is so blessed by the many opportunities that have been provided him and is expectant to how the Lord will use him in this next season.      Team Member Feature: Dana Landis Dana Landis joined the PW Team at the beginning of 2017 and has been the Stage Manager for all the featured performances: Women of the Bible, Passion: The Musical, Sermon on the Mount: The Musical, Ephesians, Grace Family Christmas, and Women of the Bible – Truth. Dana is a part-time staff member of Piercing Word. She has also been the Administrator of Piercing Word's Summer Theatre Camps for the last two summers as well as Stage Manager for two Piercing Word tours. Dana also works as a Production Assistant at the Fulton Theatre. She graduated from Penn State University in 2015 with a degree in Theatre Design and Technology. Originally from Lancaster, Dana appreciates the ministry that Piercing Word brings to the community and she hopes that the scripture performances will impact you as much as they have her.
