The exciting news from 450 North Prince Street is that construction has been up and running for about two weeks now! As of Friday, May 1, construction sites were allowed to resume their paused projects as long as they followed specific safety precautions to protect workers from exposure to COVID-19. Our contractor, Dale Hoover of Ashlin Woods, did not hesitate to make this happen, putting together a Job Site Infections Disease Preparedness and Response Plan.
Once back to work, quick progress was made on the hospitality center. As you can see in the photo above, the framing of the interior walls has begun on the first floor which really helps you to visualize the layout for the café area. Framing of the second floor is scheduled to start next week and then we move right into roofing, windows, electrical ... the list goes on!
While the pandemic and resulting interruption to the construction did set the project back a little bit, Dale is hopeful that we can make up some of the time throughout the remainder of the project. We are still expecting that it will be possible to relocate EMM's administrative offices to the second floor sometime in the fall of 2020 and we look forward to that day.
Please continue praying for this project: for the safety of the contractors, for the health and well-being of the neighbors, for the financial support to come in, and for God's vision and purpose for the space to be carried out. Thank you for your prayers and support!
