Reading the Qur'an as a Non-Muslim

Saturday, October 7

Malcolm Gladwell has called the Pulitzer-Prize winning historian, writer, and journalist Garry Wills "one of the great political writers of his time." With his New York Times bestselling classics What Jesus MeantPapal SinWhy I Am a Catholic, and Why Priests? Garry Wills has established himself as an authority on religion, American politics, and how they intersect. Now, after a lifetime spent thinking and writing about ChristianityWills takes on one of his greatest intellectual challenges yet in WHAT THE QUR'AN MEANT: And Why It Matters.

Wills will speak about his insights and discoveries about the Qur'an in Lancaster on Saturday, October 7 at 6 p.m. in an event sponsored by the Parish Resource Center.   A copy of the book is included in the ticket price for the event.

Trunk-or-Treat

Tuesday, October 24
6:30 - 8:00 pm

PRC Parking Lot
What is a Trunk-or-Treat event?
Trunk-or-Treat is a free and safe event for families! Attendees will go from parked car to parked car and receive candy or a non-food item from each one. Each vehicle opens its trunk that is decorated with a kid-friendly theme. Kids wear their costumes, visit the decorated cars, fill up on treats, and enjoy a night of family fun. We will also have snacks, crafts, music, and more! This event is for children (infant-5th grade) and their families.

How can your church be involved?
Rally your youth group, Sunday school, small groups, outreach team, or staff to decorate a trunk (or several) and have the opportunity to connect with people in the greater Lancaster community. This event can build unity in your church as you have fun preparing, decorating, and then connecting with families. This event is great if your church does not have adequate parking or if you aren't located at a highly trafficked area like the PRC. Here are ideas for ways you can decorate your trunk.

If you want to decorate trunks, what do you need to do?
  • Choose a theme that you can do most of the decorating before the actual event
  • Arrive at the PRC on October 24th between 5-6 pm and set up your car with a child-appropriate theme
  • Have at least 1 person host your car from 6:30-8 pm
  • Provide at least 200 pieces of candy or a non-food item (Pencils, stickers, etc). The PRC will replenish if cars run out and as long as supplies last
  • Clean up area and take all belongings at 8 pm when the event ends
  • Reserve your spot(s) with Heather, PRC's Staff Consultant, at (717) 299-1113 or heather@prctr.org by October 1st!
*The goal is to provide a fun and safe event for families in the community. We do not see this event as an evangelistic event, but you may bring fliers for your church and hand them out to interested families.

Trunk-or-Treat is sponsored by Parish Resource Center and Everence.
