       JUST A FEW FACTS:
MANY IN INDIA LACK WATER
  • 25% of India's population is suffering from the effects of drought.
  • 150,000 villages have been affected by the drought.
  • Some parts of the country have seen drought for two consecutive years.
  • When digging Bore Wells water used to be hit at 90-100 feet. Currently the average depth is 1500 ft.
  • Because of drought in 2015, 2000 farmers committed suicide
  • As of April 2016; 116 farmers had committed suicide.
  • Suicide of farmers leaves women and children vulnerable to trafficking in order to survive
  • Our state, Telangana, and nearby state Andhra Pradesh are among hardest hit states. These two states produce one third of India's food.
WATER CLOSE BY IS A BLESSING
Giving Thanks for Water

How much water do you think you use in a day? How much water do you think everyone who lives in your house uses in a day? Now imagine needing to carry all of that water!

Chances are you would probably reduce how much water you use. For some people this is their way of life- way of survival.

Recently a Bore Well was dug for the poor slum people pictured above/below. They were overjoyed to have water nearby and not need to carry water so far.

Most of us can hardly imagine not having enough water with all the rain parts of the United States has been having during the month of May. The last two years India has been hard hit with water shortages. People who can afford to have dug new wells.

In 2014 Good Life dug a well in one of the villages where we have a church.

As you can see, from the above picture, our well was in between the church and our baptistry. As the drought increased about a year later the community was lacking water. They decided to dig a well also. As you can see from the above picture, they dug the well exactly in line with our well, thinking that if they dug deeper than our well the water would run into their well. We weren't sure what to do, knowing they were planning to dig there. We prayed. Even though they dug very deep they didn't hit sufficient water and the Lord protected the water in our well.

We thought of different ideas of how we could bless the community with water. In the end we decided to dig another well at a different area in the village. Below are pictures, praying for water before digging and rejoicing in and taking part in the wonderful gift of water. We're grateful for the resources and opportunity to be able to show the love of Christ to this community!
