See it here » Hurricane Matthew Pounds Southeast SAMARITAN'S PURSE RESPONDING IN U.S. AND HAITI As I write, Hurricane Matthew is hammering the Southeast coast and posing grave danger to the people of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Matthew is a Category 3 hurricane—the strongest to hit the Southeast in many years. As it parallels the coastline, the trail of destruction could extend for hundreds of miles and impact millions of Americans. Even as the hurricane rages, Samaritan's Purse is already preparing to respond. Our U.S. Disaster Relief tractor-trailer units are fully packed and ready to roll to the hardest-hit areas. DONATE NOW Samaritan's Purse is also working around the clock in Haiti, where Matthew was the most powerful storm in over 50 years—killing hundreds, washing out bridges and roads, and demolishing countless homes. I've been to Haiti a number of times since the 2010 earthquake, and I can tell you these people desperately need our help. Within hours after Matthew left Haiti, we loaded our DC-8 cargo jet with 20 tons of tarps, blankets, water filters, and other emergency supplies and flew to Haiti—navigating around the immense storm on the way. Another planeload is landing today, and there will be more in the days to come. When disasters strike in the U.S. and around the world, we don't run from them. We run to them.
