Wishing you peace this Christmas season

This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.

As we await again this year the "child wrapped in bands of cloth," we marvel that He is born to us the Prince of Peace. In a world much troubled today as 2,000 years ago God's promise of peace through His son is revealed to us again as a vulnerable infant. Our prayer of peace, through this newborn child of promise, is for all people to live in freedom from fear and freedom from want.

For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us. –Ephesians 2:14

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. –John 14:27

In our world today, there are often calls of "peace, peace, when there is no peace" (Jeremiah 6:14b). Whether MCC is working in New York City or Nepal, we seek to be faithful to Christ's call on us to walk in the path of peace. We continue to accompany committed and courageous partners working so that all of God's children may live lives of dignity. May God make it so.

In this season of advent, the staff of MCC East Coast wishes you peace.

peace, paz, frieden
