Fall Leadership Assembly

LMC's Fall Leadership Assembly is planned for Thursday, September 21 (instead of September 16). This assembly is being held in conjunction with the Annual International Missions Association (IMA) being hosted this year by EMM. This is a wonderful opportunity for LMC leaders to interact with and learn from our Global Fraternal partners from around the world.

Host Families Needed for IMA  
EMM is requesting host families for the 20th anniversary gathering of the International Missions Association (IMA) from Sept.19-27. If you are available to host international missions leaders for all or part of this event, please visit this link for more details or contact Jessica Fellenger at jessicaf@emm.org or 717 898-2251 ext. 235.

There is also a need for meal donations for lunch or dinner during the event for the group of approximately 50 people. This is another great way to show hospitality to our international guests.  Interested persons should contact Jessica Fellenger at jessicaf@emm.org or 717 898-2251 ext. 235.

Ministry Trips for IMA  
Over 30 international leaders plan to spend a week with us as part of of the 20th anniversary celebration of the International Missions Association (IMA). Guests are available for weekend ministry opportunities Saturday (Sept. 23) and Sunday (Sept 24).  Opportunities could be meeting with leaders, preaching in a service, sharing stories, answering questions, etc. The goal is for local churches here to build relationships and learn from the experience of our brothers and sisters from around the globe. Inviting churches will be responsible to provide a host family for Saturday night and transportation to and from the Lancaster area.  Please e-mail Troy Landis (troyl@emm.org) if you have questions or are interested in hosting.

300th Anniversary Homecoming

The Groffdale congregation is planning a special worship service including varieties of music that have shaped the congregation over the years and dramatic vignettes to remember important events of God's faithfulness.  A catered lunch will follow the worship service in a large tent adjacent to the church.  Everyone is welcome to attend, especially those who have participated in the life of the congregation at some time in their lives.   The day will begin with a light breakfast served in the all-purpose room at 9 a.m. The worship service begins at 10 a.m. in the auditorium followed by the meal at noon in the tent. Bridge the Gap is a 14-week mission internship that equips young adults to thrive in a cross-cultural environment. Join an intercultural group of young adults at Immerse International (immerse-us.com) to learn about key local/global issues like sustainability, community development, poverty, entrepreneurship, and more. Multipliers is a group committed to discussing and practicing simple disciple-making principles for daily life, and then sharing those principles with others. It's a place of accountability and encouragement alongside like-minded Christ-followers. Multipliers is open to those with or without previous discipleship training experience. 300 Years of Mellinger Mennonite Church
Join us for two half-day field trips looking at the origins of Mellinger Mennontie Church on Saturday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 4 p.m. Highlights include a walk to the early Mellinger farm as well as a log barn along Leaman Road. The tour will be led by Dan Wenger and Ivan Leaman. The tour begins at Mellinger Mennonite Church. Registration costs $50 for members, $65 for nonmembers, and is due September 21. Book signing: Delve into the utilitarian beauty of old order meetinghouses 
Join us at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, for a talk and book signing with author Beth Oberholtzer and photographer John Herr on their recently released book, Plain Meetinghouses: Lancaster County Old Order Mennonites Gather to Worship. The talk will be held at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata, Pa.

Pastor's Breakfast  
Tuesday, September 12, 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. 
LMC pastor's are invited to the first pastor's breakfast for the 2017-18 LM school year on September 12. We plan to introduce new principals Paul Smeltzer (Locust Grove) and Michael Charles (Kraybill). Superintendent, Pam Tieszen, will also offer an update on LMS.

Pastors gather at the Lancaster Campus in the Rutt Building Community Room. Breakfast will be served.

Future breakfast dates this year: February 6 and April 17.

Art Reception 
An art reception will be held September 13 at Landis Homes featuring the watercolors, acrylics and drawings of local artist Crystal (Shenk) Dull. It will include a range of subject matter  including florals, animals, landscapes, portraits and still life. The artwork of her two teen daughters, Breonna and Monica, will also be part of the exhibit.

Dull was born in Lancaster PA, and now resides with her family in Lititz. She received a B.A. in Art with minors in English & Drafting at Millersville University. More examples of her work can be found at CrystalReflectionsArt.com.

The opening reception, to which the public is welcome, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, in the Harvest View lobby and galleries. Parkinson's Support Group Meeting 
The next session of the Parkinson's Support Group will be held Monday, September 18, 2pm - 3pm. This public meeting will be held in the Westview Community Room at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz.

The monthly meetings are designed for education and support for persons diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and their families.  The Lancaster Parkinson's Support Group meets at Landis Homes the third Monday of each month from March through November.

Alzheimer's Association Walk 
Saturday, September 23, 2017 is the date for this year's Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's™. Once again Landis Homes will be having a team. Annual Fellowship Day 
Landis Homes annual Fellowship Day and Chicken Barbecue will be held on Saturday, September 9, with happenings of interest to persons of all ages. The fun begins at 8 a.m. with the opening of the silent auction, market place and yard sale.  
A live benefit auction that begins at 9 a.m. will consist of quilts, antiques, handcrafts, and one-of-a-kind items. Some of this year's quilts include Timberline, Ocean Wave, Starburst Log Cabin, and Bargello Trip.Individuals and businesses donated tops that were quilted by the Landis Homes quilters. The quilt portion of the auction begins at 1:30 p.m.   

This year's art selection has many original and limited edition prints including: Christiane David, Liz Hess, Paris Wyatt Llanso, Lee Lovett, Velma Magill, Kyong Sill Shing, Suk Shuglie, Andy Smith, Julia Swartz, Steve Wilson and more. The art auction will begin at about 10:45 a.m.

The three-day event, Sept. 20-22, is themed Bridge to a Shared Tomorrow and will take place at the Lancaster Penn Square Marriott in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
