Dear Kelly,

In the midst of your busy schedule and chaotic newsfeed, from the Judge Kavanaugh confirmation hearings to the PA Legislature back in session for only 9 days to tackle various pressing issues, I want to make sure you knew how important your partnership is with us, not only for advancing good public policy but for the advancement of the Gospel and other fruitful causes. This week provides some good examples.

Thank you for partnering to push the Down Syndrome Protection Act across the finish line.

The leading State Senator working to advance the much-needed Down Syndrome Protection Act sent me an email last week:

'Thank you for the ongoing work you and your team are doing to help get this bill across the finish line. I encourage you to keep up your efforts."

I share this with you because his thanking us is really thanking you. Pennsylvania Family Institute is here because you and so many other individuals and families across the state have invested in us and our work.

With the Down Syndrome Protection Act, House Bill 2050, frankly we're going to need all the help we can get if we are to see it cross the finish line this year. Please contact your State Senator this week and recruit others to do the same. By email, you can use our Action Alert at pafamily.org/downsyndrome. Some additional resources:

Thank You for helping us bring awareness to human trafficking

On Friday, September 28th, I will be representing Pennsylvania Family Institute at a booth for the event called "Breaking Chains" put on by a local ministry called Greenlight Operations and their work to fight human trafficking in the Greater Harrisburg area.

Pennsylvania Family Institute is all about strengthening the family. We may not be able to get involved in every issue but we're certainly not just a one-issue advocate. The problem of human trafficking is something we have dealt with over the years and is a problem right here in Pennsylvania. We continue to be involved in helping to draft legislation as well as communicating with local municipalities to fight trafficking and adult-oriented businesses through zoning laws.

It is your partnership with us that makes this involvement possible. For more about this Friday event or to get involved, click here.

I hope this email reminds you about how valuable you are to our organization. Whether it is picking up the phone to call your State Senator, helping to distribute our annual Voter Guides (pre-order today at pafamilyvoter.com) or making a financial investment in our work, your involvement with us, all by God's grace, is what drives our effectiveness.

Thank you for your generosity. May we continue to work together to strengthen families throughout the Commonwealth.

Sincerely,

Tom Shaheen
Vice President for Policy
PA Family Institute

P.S. I would love to see you at our 2018 Friends of the Family banquet as we honor Jack Phillips (Colorado cake artist who won a Supreme Court case yet is again being attacked for his faith) and Coach Joe Kennedy (football coach fired for praying after a football game) as well as take time to highlight what your investment in our work looks like. To get your dinner tickets or to become a sponsor, go to pafamily.org/banquet or call us at 717-545-0600. Hope to see you there!
