Coping with climate change

A changing climate forces farmers in Kenya to face a new reality for crop production. Rainy seasons that were once reliable are now shorter and come in sporadic floods. Farmers are learning from MCC's partners how to grow food even with unpredictable rain and droughts.

Read how Damaris Nadupoi and other farmers are supporting their families in spite of the changing climate.

Collecting seeds and finding roots

Victoria Gillon, a 2019 Summer Service Program participant serving in Brooklyn, NY, reflects on her summer assignment at Radical Living's urban youth gardening summer program. Through engaging youth on topics of environmental and social justice and food cultivation this summer, Gillon has been "collecting seeds" of ideas, friendship, information and insight. Sustainable symmetry

Chickens, fish and veggies. What do these things have in common? Chim Yean started raising fish to give him income even when the rice fields are bare. He uses water from his fish pond to grow vegetables, which he sells and feeds to his chickens. In the midst of climate change, people like Chim are diversifying their rice-focused farming to generate sustainable revenue and feed their families.

Watch this video to see Chim's new way of farming.
