Prayers of gratitude and intercession

October 2019: Pray for Ecuador where citizens were protesting government cuts to decades-long petrol subsidies and labour and tax reforms that result in reduced wages and social programs. Mennonite churches in Ecuador, rooted in the teachings of Jesus, call for peace that is based on justice, reconciliation, the defense of vulnerable people and affirmation of human dignity, and rejection of violence. May the church be empowered by the Spirit of God to seek the welfare of their neighbours and the transformation of hearts. Read more.

October 2019: Pray for the young people who began their service terms around the world with the Young Anabaptist Mennonite Exchange Network (YAMEN!) program in mid-August. May they be willing to take risk and learn without bias as they encounter and serve the church n a new location and different culture. YAMEN! is a joint program between Mennonite World Conference and Mennonite Central Committee. Read more.

October 2019: Praise God for the 4th annual peace camp training session in Angola in July to train leaders from MWC member churches Igreja da Comunidade Menonita em Angola (ICMA), Igreja Evangélica Menonita em Angola (IEMA), and Igreja Evangélica dos Irmãos Menonitas em Angola (IEIMA), with involvement from Mennonite Central Committee. Pray that they would have wisdom and creativity as they teach others the skills they have learned to form peace clubs in schools, prisons, and local communities. Pray for wisdom as they implement trauma healing skills. Read more.
