These bi-weekly UPDATES are shared so that leaders and congregations are aware of events and information taking place in LMC, agencies, fraternal organizations, congregations, and the broader church. These announcements are for your information and to share with others in your congregation through email (below is the link), weekly bulletin, monthly newsletter, Sunday morning announcements, church website, or Facebook. Use your discretion and share what your congregation will find helpful.

LMC Office Events & Information

Dear LMC Leader,

LMC office staff would like to encourage all leaders to access and post to the LMC Facebook page over the next several weeks. We encourage you to use it as a way to connect and communicate during this time of social distancing and restricted meeting size. If you are comfortable doing so, refer your members to the page as well. LMC staff will also post information as it comes our way.

Feel free to post congregational updates, Scripture readings, personal concerns, local, national, and global prayers, links to sermons or Sunday School lessons, ideas for families at home, and information on the pandemic that you find helpful and others might appreciate. Please consider responding to the items others post in order to provide some mutual dialog. Note that the LMC Facebook page is completely open to the public, so what you post is a witness to any who choose to stop by the page.

A Celebration of Church Life follow up Message from LMC

With careful consideration, the four major addresses planned for Celebration of Church Life will be recorded, posted on Youtube, and links supplied on the LMC Website and Facebook page by April 7, 2020.

This will include:
the two addresses by Glenn Kauffman,
Keith Weaver's State of LMC, and
the Youth Address by Keith Nyce.

The presentations will be recorded,
not live-streamed on April 3 as initially planned.

The Spring Leadership Assembly content will be moved to the Fall Leadership Assembly; Saturday, September 26, 2020; venue to be announced.

The seminar content, planned for Saturday, April 4 2020 at CCL,
as possible, will be moved to CCL next year,
scheduled for March 19-20, 2021 at Petra Church.

We have made the decision to postpone the April 25 Flourish event at Bethlehem Community Church in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic. We were so very excited about this event and would like to reschedule this same event later this year.

At this point, we are uncertain of the timing of that event due to the uncertainty of how this pandemic will impact our nation and this world and when it would be wise to reschedule. We will be in touch.

In the meantime, all of you are in our prayers. May you experience the "peace that passes understanding" as you encourage and minister to those around you with the Good News of Jesus in spite of the difficulties we are facing.

During these uncertain times, people have been wondering how they can help when they are to be keeping a distance from people and many volunteering options have been curtailed. Landis Communities is seeking assistance in creating reusable facemasks. Please see the attached information for the masks we are seeking for use at Landis Homes and Welsh Mountain Home. Finished items made be dropped off at either location. If you have questions, please contact Moniqua Acosta in Volunteer Services 717-509-5409. During these unprecedented times, it can sometimes feel odd to read things written when COVID-19 was not present. Before this era began, Landis Communities worked on the inaugural issue of FLOURISH, a new magazine sharing the stories of people from all parts of the organization and how they are living out our new tagline "Cultivating Life, Together."
