FIRE at Spruce Lake
We Are Thankful That No One Was Injured!
April 2015

Unfortunately the rumors you might be hearing are correct - we did have a significant fire last Sunday afternoon, April 12th. The 3-unit apartment building that we call Hickory caught fire.  Thankfully there is no personal injury; however, there was significant damage to all three apartment units.

The initial damage estimates are in excess of 250,000 dollars.

The SLR team members affected by the fire -  Grace Nolt on the third floor, Stacie Farris had belongings on the second floor as she was in the process of moving in, and Arielle Messina on the first floor.

We have contracted with a restoration company to begin the cleanup, in conjunction with our insurance carrier. We expect the process to take approximately 4 to 6 month. We have reviewed the insurance coverage and expect that most of the claim will be covered within our limits. However, we carry a 10,000 dollar deductible to keep our annual premium lower and I am sure we will incur some expenses that are unseen at this point.

Please pray for the staff affected and the restoration process during this busy spring and summer season.

Sincerely,

Mark Swartley,
Executive Director
