Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to travel across the U.S. and Canada canning meat for those in need all over the world? Consider serving with MCC as a canner operator! Canner operators travel with the mobile meat cannery to 30 different locations, canning beef, turkey, chicken and pork. Canners are responsible for all aspects of the project including: operating steam and pressure vessels, coordinating volunteers, maintaining and communicating USDA regulations and the maintenance of all machinery in the process. On Sunday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m., join MCC at Ridgeview Mennonite Church (3723 Ridge Rd., Gordonville, PA 17529) to hear stories of service from Omar Lapp and John Hostettler, who served with MCC in post-WWII Europe. Current opening at MCC Thrift Shop Coordinator (Salaried): This position provides support and services to 17 MCC East Coast thrift shops who annually contribute nearly $3 million to the ministries of MCC. The person in this position is expected to assist with problem solving in daily shop operations, to advocate for and be a resource in board development and sound policies and to nurture manager skill development, while offering and promoting MCC Thrift Shop Network resources, all resulting in consistent annual growth in net income. This person also acts as a liaison between MCC and East Coast thrift shops, communicating regularly the shops' issues, needs and feedback to MCC and MCC's mission and use of funds to the shops. Summer SWAP Positions Available MCC's SWAP (Sharing With Appalachian People) home repair program has summer positions open in both West Virginia and Kentucky. The assignments run from May 30 to approximately August 11. Applicants should be at least 19 years old, but positions are not limited to young adults. In both positions, an exceptional 18-year-old might be considered. A stipend, room and board and travel expenses are provided.

Ongoing Bulletin AnnouncementsHelp displaced people in DR Congo Armed conflict in the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has displaced 1.4 million people, including 5,000 Mennonites. Families had to leave their fields and animals when they fled the violence, and food that is available for purchase is very expensive. Congolese Mennonites are responding by distributing food packages of maize flour, beans, oil and salt, and hygiene supplies for women. Consider helping displaced people in the DR Congo by visiting mcc.org/congo-relief. Palestine and Israel Learning Tour MCC invites participants to join a learning tour in March 2019 to Palestine and Israel. Borderlands Learning Tour Join MCC on October 3-8, 2018 as we learn about the increasing migrant deaths, militarization, environment degradation, effects on habitat and effects on sister communities by the border wall along the Mexico/U.S. borderlands. Participants will increase their understanding and knowledge of the social, economic, political and biblical/theological significance of migration in border communities, including advocacy tools and capacity building to engage others on borderlands and migration issues.
