Hello Gehman Mennonite Church, today is a very special day for Good Sam's Emergency Shelter in Ephrata!
Today is Good Sam's 10 year anniversary serving in Ephrata. We now have two facilities, serve 100+ individuals and families in Ephrata each year, and have 8-11 staff members depending on the time of year.
"10 years ago we stepped out and took a step of faith to purchase the shelter in Ephrata. We could only afford one caseworker at 8 hours a week. We were real bare bones. It is by God's grace that we made it through that time and grew to what we are now."
- Nate Hoffer, CEO of GSS
In 2011 we were a small emergency shelter for only women and children. As of 2021, we now provide emergency shelter, winter shelter (for both men AND women), and residential housing. Not to mention a few other opportunities on the horizon…
We are so grateful to our staff, our supporters, and our volunteers who have made this incredible anniversary possible. Over the past 10 years, there has been so much effort and love poured into Good Sam from the Ephrata community and we can't thank you enough.
So here's to 10 years in Ephrata, and for many more years to come!
