REAL Life Happenings this Summer! 

August 2021 Happy Summer!  THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 6TH, IS OUR FIRST FRIDAY FOOD DRIVE!! You can drop off food at any time from 3-5 pm.  Go to 240 Main Street, Denver PA 17517. Drive between the Turkey Hill building and the Declaration House and you'll see the Warehouse 916! Your generosity is providing hope and help to your community. Would you consider making a gift to continue the work of REAL Life Community Services? We are so thankful to partner with you! With information booths from Union Community Health, Cocalico Cares, Warehouse916 Food Distribution programs & Momentum Youth Development. Our annual Fall Banquet will be held once again at Woodcrest Retreat's Indian Rock Center on Thursday, October 14th.  The meal will be served at 6:30 pm.  Tickets are free, but all must either be a guest of a business sponsoring a table or be preregistered by October 1. Businesses can sponsor a table of 8 for $500 and bring their own guests.  This year's entertainment is Piercing Word Ministry followed by a short update on all we have accomplished with your help and a vision of where we are heading.    We hope to see you there! We will be at the Denver Fair again!  September 14th - September 18th  REAL Life Community Services will again be participating in the Extraordinary Give.  Keep your eyes open for ways you can help us raise even more than last year's $65,000! Pick up at our office at the Declaration House. Open to all residents of the Cocalico School District, regardless of income. Our transitional house has a new name—Glory House! Many new improvements were just completed -painting, new ceiling tiles, and new flooring was donated by Cloister Flooring for the bedrooms. Courtyard Café collected donations that paid for new flooring for the kitchen and cabinets. We are excited for the next mom that comes to our "new" home! Haggai 2:9—" The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,", says the Lord Almighty "And in this place, I will grant peace" declares the Lord Almighty. Please pray that the next mom will experience God's love and peace and that all Glory will be given to God! Here is the list for the Glory House needs:   Kitchen items:                                               Bathroom items: Dishcloths                                                       Small trash can Tea towels                                                       Ivory colored washcloths and hand towels Cutting board Knives(paring knife, chef's knife) Can opener Kitchen shears Spatulas Vegetable peeler Paper towel holder Trash can Broom Kitchen cleaners Cookie sheets Silverware   Things are really heating up this summer for the    Parent-As-Teacher program in Cocalico Community!  Here are some highlights: · Family Cooking Series · Caregiver Connection Series · Group connection focused on STEM UPCOMING EVENTS: · A virtual play date with Hank the Health Hero on August 19 at 10:00am.  Watch our Facebook page for registration information coming soon!  Save the dates!!  We will be hosting a virtual group connection for our pre-k community every third Thursday of the month at 10:00am. Call Deeann to sign up 717-336-7797.   The expansion project for Warehouse916 is almost complete!  There have been so many volunteers helping with this project, we don't have enough room to name you all!  This new expansion will help us develop our Cocalico Food Pantry Client Choice program. We now have 2,000 sq ft of food storage space with commercial refrigerators and freezers just like the grocery store.  We hope this will be a better resource for residents who are in need throughout the Cocalico community. The Cocalico Food Pantry's Client Choice program is open to residents of the Cocalico School District who have met with our social worker and fall within the income guidelines set by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.  If you are in need of assistance, schedule your appointment with REAL Life Community Services today 717-336-7797. Power Packs Registration now open— Cocalico School District families that qualify for free and reduced lunches also qualify for Power Packs, a weekly educational program with a healthy recipe, the main ingredients to make that recipe, and a couple of staple food items.  Click here to register Our youth development team has been busy connecting with youth this summer!  From handing out hotdogs at the park every Tuesday night to throwing parties and hanging out with teens at the Lighthouse Youth Center!  Using the CAMP Curriculum to develop mentoring relationships, the Momentum team has really gelled and kids who are coming out leave filled with laughter and joy.  Our hope is to fill the Lighthouse back up with God's love, laughter, and lessons this Fall!  Saturday, October 16, REAL Life Community Services will be joining many other businesses downtown Denver from 9-11 am to celebrate all that our community has to offer.  There will be pumpkin painting, craft displays, and food & games to play.  Come to the Lighthouse Community Center to get your face painted by some of our Momentum volunteers & children ages 10 and under can get a free balloon.   Donate Today We are making a difference!
