Dear Friends, Today, on Giving Tuesday, we invite a gift in support of hardworking volunteers responding in communities affected by disaster in the U.S. and Canada. Together we are able to assist people in towns like Crisfield, Maryland. Located on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, Crisfield was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and has suffered repeated flooding since.   The home of Edward and Nicole Gillespie and their two sons (pictured above) filled with water in late 2021. As Edward worked long hours to support his family, he had little time to work on the house. "The lights were flickering on and off," he said. "People asked me how I could still live there, and I would tell them that my family was in there. We were praying and praying and praying." The Gillespie family now has a new home constructed by MDS volunteers. The house is elevated to help it withstand future flooding. Nicole shared that when her boys arrive back at their new home after school, they can't wait to hang out in their rooms. "They say, after a storm, you get a rainbow," she said. "These volunteers were definitely a rainbow." A gift from you makes it possible for volunteers to rebuild stronger and safer for more families like the Gillespies. This winter volunteers will be responding to hurricanes in Louisiana and Florida, flooding in Maryland and Virginia, and tornadoes in Kentucky, Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama. Dear Supporters, Thank you for your on-going support of CrossNet Ministries!    Below you will find a recap for October 2023 and more information of what is currently going on at CrossNet. Please take a few minutes to read some encouraging stories, learn about current needs, and find out more about upcoming events.    If you have any questions, please let me know! Thank you for partnering with us to offer help and hope in the name of Jesus.   Executive Director  Meredith Dahl October Recap This October, we hosted the annual Winter Coat Program. Thank you to everyone who donated coats, provided funds, and volunteered their time before and during the event. Your generosity helped keep over 390 kids and teens in our community warm this winter!  CrossNet staff and volunteers also participated in the annual New Holland Parade! They handed out candy and collected non-perishable food items from parade attendees! Thank you to everyone who donated food to CrossNet during this event. Because of you, over 800 pounds of food was collected to give to families and individuals who are battling food insecurity in ELANCO. We are looking for Volunteers for our Transportation Ministry!  CrossNet's Transportation Ministry is available for those in ELANCO who need access to medical or educational appointments.  Last month, we had over 70 request for transportation rides from people in the community! This program provides a unique opportunity for our community to come together in ensuring that necessities are fulfilled, families are empowered, and the message of Jesus Christ's love is shared during the Christmas season.  We are currently seeking individuals, families, businesses, or churches to sponsor children in our community and help provide Christmas Gifts!   We already have over 400 students enrolled and anticipate supporting over 600 kiddos in the community through this program.
