Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) is seeking a host family to serve as respite host for a volunteer who is serving with MDS in a partnership with Mennonite Central Committee's (MCC) International Volunteer Exchange Program (IVEP).
The IVEP participant would spend the majority of their time serving on MDS projects across the US but will need a respite host in or around Lancaster County, PA about once every 8 weeks, usually for one week at a time (2.5 weeks at Christmas). Hosts will meet the IVEPer during their MDS orientation in August 2024 and provide a relaxing, restful environment for the IVEPer during their respite weeks. Respite weeks would tentatively take place in November, December (mid-December through early January), late February, and May (specific dates TBD).
We are looking for a host for Jesca (age 24, female, Uganda). MCC and MDS make a stipend available the host family to support hosting costs.
This is a great opportunity to support the ministries of MCC and MDS and to enrich your own lives by build relationships with someone from another culture! Interested hosts should contact Amy Keller (akeller@mds.org) or Josh Carson (jcarson@mds.org) or call 800-241-8111. |
