Resources for your congregation

Immigration legal toolbox

There are many ways churches and individuals can respond to the needs of immigrants in their community. One way is by helping immigrants with legal paperwork. There is already a shortage of legal service providers and, after the president's executive action in November 2014, this need has increased. Churches exploring starting legal documentation programs can find several useful resources on MCC's website, including toolkits, guides and training opportunities. Visit mcc.org/immigration-toolbox for more information and to download a bulletin insert to share with your congregation.

MCC's Sharing with Appalachian People (SWAP) program is pleased to announce Church Leadership Week on March 23-28 for pastors, youth leaders, ministers and others who will potentially be leading new SWAP groups. Fees have been waived for this event, so those attending would be responsible only for their own transportation to and from the SWAP site in Hindman, Ky. Please call the SWAP office at (606) 633-5065 for more information.

MCC's Haiti earthquake response,
five years later

With the support of your generous donations, over the past five years Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) has used $16.9 million to help Haitians recover from the earthquake that devastated the capital of Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas on Jan. 12, 2010. After addressing urgent needs, MCC focused on repairing and building houses, strengthening opportunities for jobs and education and supporting Haitians who are advocating for their rights to safe housing. Nearly $2 million more will be spent on earthquake response projects throughout 2015 and beyond. For stories and videos about MCC's response, visit mcc.org/haiti-earthquake. Thank you for your generous support.

Apply for MCC's Summer Service program

Mennonite Central Committee's (MCC) Summer Service program is a six- to 10-week leadership development program where young adults of color serve in their local community through their church or organization. Summer Service develops new leaders and builds your congregation or organization's capacity for current or new projects that help transform your community and work for peace and justice. Young adults of color, ages 18-30, who are connected with a constituent church of MCC or a related organization and are committed to making a difference in their community are encouraged to apply. To learn more or to submit an application (due March 6), visit mcc.org/summerservice or call 717.859.1151.

MCC relief and hygiene kits

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) has an urgent need for relief and hygiene kits. Relief kits provide valuable supplies to families whose lives have been disrupted by war or disaster. Hygiene kits give people the supplies they need to stay healthy. In times of need, these kits provide basic necessities like towels, bar soap, toothbrushes and nail clippers, while also reminding people their needs are not forgotten.
Visit mcc.org/kits or call 717-733-2847 for more information.
