REAL Youth Ministry has been around since 2010, and Rod started Full Time as the Executive Director in September, 2011! Back then, it was just a vision! Rod had no building to operate out of, not even an office. He worked hard and got creative to connect with youth. He started the 5th Quarter Parties and hosted a "7 Project" event to reach out to at-risk youth. In July 2014 we acquired a building from the Denver Bible Church and in October we opened the "Lighthouse Youth Center"!
... And Transitional Home for Moms! Six months later we opened the "Transitional Home for Moms"! This gives a mom 6 to 12 months of additional support coming out of the Good Samaritan Shelter in Ephrata!
Realizing we have to take a holistic approach to effecting young lives, this past year we started to seriously address poverty in our community. Since there are no social service organization offices in the entire Cocalico School District, we have been trying to fill a void that has gone unnoticed for so many years. We expanded our Power Packs Project (free food distribution) from one school (in 2013), to three (in 2014), to serving 35 families (100 children) in all five schools starting this month! We have also taken the lead in meeting with other church leaders to form a Cocalico Social Service Network. We're working hard to find a way to develop and provide social services and low income housing to families in need in the name of Christ!
Great Way to Support REAL Youth Ministry! It costs you nothing and only takes a Click!
Denver House Bar on Main St closed back in March! We're working hard to purchase and renovate the building to provide affordable housing and a social service office in Denver!

Back to School...
Each year it's always interesting to see who shows up to Wednesday Morning Bible Study. We always start by meeting at the flag pole on the fourth Wednesday of September in honor of the national "See You at the Pole" event! This year there were over 60 students along with faculty who met at the Cocalico HS flag to pray!
Seeing young people engaged, encouraged, equipped, and empowered is our mission! We get so excited to watch these students grown up from a shy freshman to a strong senior leader! Many strong leaders graduated and we were sad to see them go, but we see a new crop of leaders rising up to fill their shoes!
A HUGE unveiling!
Next month, REAL celebrates five years of service in our community! You don't want to miss next month's update! It will be our biggest news since our building acquisition last year!
