KAIROS

Sabbath Space For Clergy, Chaplains and Other Leaders

KAIROS: School of Spiritual Formation is offering monthly weekday retreats in a contemplative context for pastors and ministry leaders to grow spiritually and to enhance their ministries in the practice of spiritual formation. Sabbath Space retreat days, offered September through May, provide rest and reflection away from the work of ministry, encourage personal spiritual growth, and increase awareness and understanding of the art and ministry of spiritual guidance in the church or ministry setting.

Through the study of literature, the experience of group spiritual direction, theological reflection, and presentation of case studies out of the settings in which they provide leadership, participants will enhance their own spiritual journey, as well as more effectively care for the soul of their congregation or ministry community.

Continuing Education Units available for this retreat.

For additional information on the days and time, prospectus, application and fees, please visit www.kairosjourney.org/sabbath-space/

Flourish
Two Resource Events
Wednesday, November 18, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (tentative times)
Location: We are looking at non-church building locations. Suggestions welcome, email Bev Kreider w/venue suggestions: bevkreider@gmail.com. Must have space for teams to work around tables.

Geared for: Leadership Teams and lay persons who are engaging in local mission and service. This is not an "introduction" to discipleship and mission, but is planned as next steps for leaders who are already immersed in and experimenting with these concepts.

Description of the Day:  Consider how to get beyond Sunday morning services and programs in the church building.
  • Identify where we are already engaging our networks/neighborhoods.
  • Look at practical ways for small groups and missional communities to be on mission together.
  • Move beyond "individual salt and light" into communally blessing those where we live, work and play.
  • Examine helpful steps to bet started in respective contexts.
  • Practice clarifying a group's mission and how that impacts rhythms of doing life together, where and when to meet, etc.
  • Hear stories of people on mission together.
This is planned to be  participatory, with a desire for application in each participant's context, helping teams move beyond rhetoric and theorizing! Time may be provided over lunch for teams (if present) to plan together.

Details: Lunch will be included, $10 donation requested to cover lunch, no other costs to attend.

RSVP: Send names and emails of persons attending  by Friday, November 13mitziheadings@mjmc.org
(After November 13, please bring your own lunch.)
