Sunday school should be a safe and welcoming place for everyone. Teachers play a big role in making children feel loved and comfortable, and that can happen as soon as the child walks in the door. That's why Building community is such an important part of a Shine session. Saying a child's name, making eye contact, and sharing a smile can help set a welcoming tone that will have a positive impact on the rest of the session. Building community is a time where children learn hospitality and respect for you and one another. At times, the activity may connect with the Bible story, but its main purpose is to foster interaction and community within the group. How do you build community within your Sunday school group?
