What Churches Should Know About the Safe Use of Social Media

A Workshop on Monday, October 16 at 7:00 pm

Led by Janie Swinehart, Assistant District Attorney , Lancaster County District Attorney's Office

This workshop will feature a brief overview of the laws that cover cyber-related crimes, specifically regarding image sharing and what are commonly known as sexting and sextortion. Participants will leave with a better understanding of several social media platforms and ways that people – both young and old – can safely engage with them.

A Case of the Wiggles

Helping Children Focus without Shaming
A Roundtable on Monday, October 16 from 10:00-11:30 am

FREE to all attending!

Led by Heather Brickner, PRC Staff

Increasingly, children are being diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, autism, and sensory processing disorder.  Has your church thought about ways to minister to these children and families?

Connect with children's ministry leaders and learn about the unique needs of these children and ways to minister to them.

You'll leave the workshop with a few handmade gadgets that will help children focus during Sunday school, mid-week programming, and church services.

Trunk-or-Treat

FREE Family-Friendly Event on Tuesday, October 24 from 6:30-8:00 pm

FREE event to all attending!

Place: Parish Resource Center Parking Lot

What is a Trunk-or-Treat event?

Trunk-or-Treat is a free and safe event for families to go from parked car to parked car and receive candy or a non-food item from each car. Each vehicle opens their trunk that is decorated with a kid-friendly theme. Kids wear their costumes, visit the decorated cars, fill up on candy, and enjoy a night of family fun. We will also have snacks, crafts, music, and more! This event is for children (infant-5th grade) and their families.

How can your church be involved?

Rally your youth group, Sunday school, small groups, outreach team, or staff to decorate a trunk (or several) and have the opportunity to connect with people in the greater Lancaster community. This event can build unity in your church as you have fun preparing, decorating, and then connecting with families. This event is great if your church does not have adequate parking or if you aren't located at a highly trafficked area like the PRC. Here are ideas for ways you can decorate your trunk.

The goal is to provide a fun and safe event for families in the community. We do not see this event as an evangelistic event, but you may bring fliers for your church and hand them out to interested families.
