  • Pennsylvania German Folk Art Sale Opening—Come to the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society for the opening of their annual sale of handcrafted goods. Meet the artists, listen to live music, and enjoy light refreshments while perusing traditional art. Freshly baked pies will also be available for purchase. The reception takes places from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 17 at the Society, 2215 Millstream Rd., Lancaster, Pa.
  • Bookbinding Class—Learn how to make your own books and journals at the 1719 Herr House & Museum. Ramon Townsend will teach bookbinding during a class from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 11. Those who are interested in the class can register online at www.hansherr.org or by phone at (717) 464-4438. The class costs $105. Register by October 27.
  • Extraordinary Give—Support Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society's pubic history activities through its museum exhibits, library, archives, and educational programs during the 24-hour ExtraGive on Friday, November 17. Computer terminals will be set up during the Folk Art Sale opening reception from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Society (2215 Millstream Rd., Lancaster).
  • Christmas Candlelight Tours—Experience the holiday season at the 1719 Herr House & Museum this fall. Candlelight Tours run from 6 to 8 p.m. on December 7 and 8 (Thursday and Friday), and from 5 to 8:30 on December 9 (Saturday). This year the tour explores the role of weaving in early communities, both Native and immigrant. For registration, and to learn more go to hansherr.org, or call (717) 464-4438.

  • Apertura de la Venta de Arte Folklórica Alemana de Pensilvania—Ven a la Sociedad Histórica Menonita de Láncaster para la apertura de la venta anual de artesanía.  Saluda a los artistas, escucha música en vivo, y disfruta de aperitivos ligeros mientras miras el arte tradicional.  La recepción se llevará a cabo entre 6 a 8:30 p.m. el viernes 17 de noviembre en la Sociedad, 2215 Millstream Rd., Lancaster, Pa.
  • Clase de encuadernación de libros—Aprende a encuadernar tus propios libros y diarios en la Casa Museo de Herr del 1719.
