Resource Event for Youth Leaders

This event is for EVERYONE who works with youth! Youth leaders, Sunday School teachers, youth ministry educators, sponsors, youth pastors or anyone else passionate about reaching teens with the love of Jesus Christ are welcome to come and learn together!     

Goals:
         a) That youth workers would be refreshed physically,  
             mentally, emotionally and spiritually
         b) To offer opportunities to network with other youth  
              leaders
         c)  To provide space for youth workers to ask questions as  
              well as space that allows for times of reflection and  
              renewal

New Danville Mennonite Church
Celebrates 300 Years
On October 14 and 15 New Danville Mennonite will celebrate 300 years of history. On Saturday the 14th there will be a fall festival from 3 to 6 p.m. with yard games, fun for the kids and a bonfire with hot dogs and s'mores included. Sunday's service will be held at 10:15 a.m. and will include all five living Pastors. Afterwards a catered meal will be provided by Enck's Catering. Please call ahead if you plan to attend the meal 717-872-8111.

This November 4 event from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. will include worship, encouragement, outreach, and recommissioning back into the harvest field all around us each day. Launch is a cross-cultural discipleship training process that will equip you for your missions journey, wherever God takes you. This three-phase process prepares you with concepts of culture and ministry principles before your mission assignment. Then, as you jump into ministry, get support from EMM coaches and fellow missionaries in an online community. New churches in Eastern and Central Europe are finding ways to witness within their post-communist and/or Muslim contexts. There are many opportunities for willing believers to strengthen and support these churches! Join EMM workers as an English teacher in the Czech Republic, or explore other ways of serving in the community. Work with a business for transformation team in Albania and help develop a possible church-planting endeavor. Or be a pioneer in an area where there are currently no EMM workers, such as Bosnia or Kosovo. Maize and Snitz Fest
Celebrate the Eastern Woodland Native American and local Pa. German cultures through artisan demonstrations, traditional food and good old-fashioned fun. Maize and Snitz Festival takes place on Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 1719 Hans Herr House and Museum, 1849 Hans Herr Drive, Willow Street.  Tickets at the site cost $13 per adult, $6 for children 7 to 12, and free for children 6 and under.
 
Festival del Maíz y la Manzana
Celebra la cultura de los nativoamericanos de los bosques orientales y la local de los alemanes de Pensilvania a través de demostraciones artesanales, comida tradicional y diversiones saludables.  El Festival del Maíz y la Manzana se llevará a cabo el sábado 7 de octubre de 10 a.m. hasta las 4 p.m. en la Casa Museo de Hans Herr del 1719, 1849 Hans Herr Drive, Willow Street.  Los boletos el mismo día cuestan $12 por adulto, $6 por niño de 7 a 12 años, y gratuito para niños de 6 o menores de esto. 
 
Mission Shirati: Transition to Development
Hear from a panel of long-time missionaries, moderated by Kevin Ressler, discuss the transformation of mission work in Shirati, Tanzania, at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 9 at Community Mennonite Church, 328 West Orange St., Lancaster.

Booksigning: Historic Barns
Hear stories about the historic barns of Lancaster County and beyond at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 in the lower level of the barn at Silverstone Inn and Suites (62 Bowman Road, Lancaster, Pa. 17602). Greg Huber will give a presentation and sign copies of his recent book, The Historic Barns of Southeastern Pennsylvania: Architecture and Preservation, Built 1750-1900.

Friday, October 6, at 7 p.m., Lancaster Mennonite School's 75th anniversary celebration will conclude with "An Evening of Stories and Songs" in the Fine Arts Center on the Lancaster Campus. The evening will feature personal stories of alumni on themes such as "In the world but not of it" and "Making a difference."  Hess's famous Pork & Chicken Barbecue is available before the event (take out 2:30-7 p.m. and under the tent 4:30-7 p.m.).

Saturday, October 7, the school will hold the Iron Bridge Trail Run/Walk at 9 a.m., the FFA Pancake Breakfast 7:30-10 a.m. and a benefit auction at 7 p.m. More information can be found at www.lancastermennonite.org.

  
Corn Pickin' 5K
Would you like to enjoy a cross country style run/walk and benefit Landis Homes at the same time? Consider participating in the third annual Corn Pickin' 5K. Proceeds from the Corn Pickin' 5K will help ensure aging adults and their families at Landis Homes have the peace of mind and financial support to live healthy, meaningful lives. The event will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Oregon Dairy  1289 Creek Road, Lititz, PA 17543. You can register on location Friday evening and Saturday morning beginning at 7:00am. Apathy or Depression - Which is it? That is the title of the next presentation at the Parkinson's Support Group meeting set for Monday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the West Community Room at Landis Homes. Responds to Hurricane Irma damage in Cuba and Haiti  
Hurricane Irma tore roofs from houses in Cuba and dashed houses to the ground. In Haiti, Irma's rain turned into flash floods that rushed into houses and caused families to escape in waist-high water. In both countries, crops, gardens and livestock were destroyed. Your gift to Mennonite Central Committee helps people in Cuba to rebuild and people in Haiti to recover.
