Friends, Join Ted & Company on Saturday, September 8 at 6:00pm at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church (713 Blooming Glen Rd, Blooming Glen, PA 18911) for Boots, Buckets & Barrows. The event is part theater/part auction, and will raise awareness of the need for MDS volunteers. The event is based on the show, The Jesus Stories: Faith, Forks & Fettuccine, interrupted two times to auction off buckets of home-related items – homemade breads and kitchen goods, games, or a bucket of house tools. Proceeds from the auction will support the efforts of the Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey MDS Unit. Please come prepared to bid on auction items or make a donation! The performance is sponsored by Blooming Glen Mennonite, Plains Mennonite and Salford Mennonite churches and the Schowalter Foundation. The Jesus Stories: Faith, Forks & Fettuccine, was written by and stars Ted Swartz, with original songs by Jeff Raught. There are many Gospel stories of Jesus gathered around tables. There was food to eat and food for thought, exploring who was invited to those tables and who showed up. The miracles of Jesus were sometimes ordinary stories with extraordinary results. The work of MDS can be described in similar ways - ordinary people taking time to volunteer their skills, producing the extraordinary result of bringing disaster survivors back home.
