On Saturday, December 6, the Lancaster Sweet Shoppe, 141 North Duke Street, will donate 10% of ALL sales to support the programs of Neighbors Community Center. Treat a friend (and/or yourself), and stock up on all your stroopie, chocolate, ice cream, and coffee gift items! Lancaster Sweet Shoppe is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Please thank the staff for all that they do throughout the year to support the community! Have you had Afrin Market's hummus? Our friends at Afrin Market, 114 West James Street (just around the corner from Neighbors Community Center at Hub450), are generously donating 100% of all hummus sales on Tuesday, December 9, and Tuesday, December 16 (final days)!   For $5.99, you will receive 16 ounces of housemade hummus, and the good feeling of supporting the programs of Neighbors Community Center. While there, pick up some extra containers for friends and neighbors.   Afrin Market is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays. When you go, please thank Lynette and Hannan for their support of the community and their delicious food! Sponsor an English language learner This year, we've had more than 200 students in our English program. We charge a modest $25 registration fee, and offer scholarships for those here less than a year. Our costs include educational materials and subscriptions, classroom supplies, snacks, rent, and gifts for our volunteers. Please consider helping to sponsor a student! What your gift provides: Education and training Language and communication skills Community and friendship GIFT IDEA: You can also sponsor a student in honor of a family member or loved one. Stop by the Community Center for a card that can be given to the recipient. This is a gift that gives twice (and benefits the whole community)! Thank you! Neighbors Community Center at Hub450 is a welcoming place connect, learn, and celebrate. We welcome those who have lived in Lancaster for many years and also our new neighbors from across the country or around the globe. Programs include Global Women's Village (a co-op for artisans), English classes for refugees and immigrants, and after-school tutoring.
