The Magnitude of Love
Seven-year-old Marielena Rodriguez was playing with her cousins when a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador on April 16, killing more than 600 and injuring several thousands. During the rumbling a wall collapsed on Marielena, injuring her leg. Her frantic parents searched for her for nine hours before finding her at a hospital 30 minutes from home.
The hospital was overwhelmed and could do little for Marielena, so her parents took her to an emergency field hospital that Samaritan's Purse had airlifted to Ecuador along with personnel and equipment just days after the massive quake.
Our medical team has treated over 600 patients and performed more than 150 surgeries, and we continue serving hurting people every day in Jesus' Name. You can see our photo blog about the emergency field hospital and find out what happened to Marielena here.
This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life.
