- Bookworm Frolic—The annual Bookworm Frolic is rapidly approaching. Come out to 2215 Millstream Road, Lancaster, PA, between Wednesday, August 10 and Friday, August 12 (9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Saturday, August 13 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), to purchase your favorite used books and support the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society.
- Field Trip: Gettysburg Historical Sites from an Anabaptist Perspective—A tour of Gettysburg from 8 am to 4 pm, Saturday, September 17, will reveal the difficult choices that some Anabaptists made during the Civil War. Registration for this battlefield tour is due August 17. Tickets cost $75 for Society members and $90 for nonmembers. Reserve your spot by online at lmhs.org or by calling (717) 393-9745.
- Field Trip: The Trail of Greenywalt's Boys—Join Ken Reed in visiting sites relating both to the Mennonite and Scots-Irish communities on Saturday, October 8. Reed will look at how these two groups of religious refugees lived uneasily next to one another. Reed is also the author of the forthcoming historical fiction novel Both my Sons (Greenywalt's Boys) that explores Mennonites during the Revolutionary War. He previously authored Mennonite Soldier and He Flew Too High. Registration for this tour is due September 8. Tickets cost $75 for Society members and $90 for nonmembers. - Annual Storytelling Night—Hear life stories from Charlie Longenecker, former biology teacher at Lancaster Mennonite High School, and Janet Breneman, teacher, writer and pastor, at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 12 at Landisville Mennonite Church, 3320 Bowman Rd., Landisville, Pa.
