Suicide Prevention with a Teen Focus Date: Thursday, March 21 Time: 6-9:00pm Location: EMU Lancaster Event Description: This certification course trains instructors to teach QPR suicide prevention to their community. Participants will learn about the nature and importance of suicidal communications, what forms these communications take, and how they may be used as the stimulus for intervention. We'll introduce the history or suicide, the spectrum of current public health prevention education efforts, and how to make immediate interventions and referrals. Presenter: Jayne Miller - A graduate of Alvernia University, Jayne has worked for WellSpan Philhaven since 2003, most recently as the Community Mental Health Education Coordinator. With this first-hand knowledge and experience, she has a unique understanding of the need for de-stigmatization of mental health concerns, as well as a keen sense of the need for early prevention/intervention.
