Donation Challenge Update | | Hi Gehman Mennonite Church,
My heart is overflowing with gratitude. I recently told you about our donation challenge...we had only a couple of weeks to raise $50,000 in order to receive a $50,000 match.
I asked you for your help.
And you responded.
I am thrilled to report we raised $70,670! We exceed our goal!
Your support is providing a safe and comfortable home for a man in our emergency shelter.
Your gifts make sure a mom leaving an abusive situation has a safe place to stay with her children.
Because you care, a family facing eviction received rental assistance and is on the path to stability.
Above all else, because of you we can demonstrate God's love and compassion to the nearly 200 men, women and children in our shelter and housing programs. We are wildly passionate about loving our neighbors as ourselves.
I am deeply grateful for all of you!
God bless, | | Nate Hoffer Chief Executive Officer Good Samaritan Services | | | We are happy to introduce you to Mandy Allan, our new Director of Development!
Mandy graduated from West Chester University with a B.A. in English and minor in Writing Emphasis. After graduation, she began her career at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she developed her love and passion for fundraising.
After three years at CHOP, she moved on to a position with The Arc of Chester County, a leading provider of services to individuals with disabilities and their families. This position offered extensive hands on experience to learn and implement all aspects of fundraising.
Most recently, Mandy was a Senior Marketing Specialist for CTDI, a global engineering and logistics company providing solutions to the communications industry.
Mandy is excited to join Good Samaritan Services as the Director of Development. She says…"I feel blessed and grateful to have the opportunity to be a contributing part of the Good Sam team; I'm excited to make a positive difference in people's lives."
Mandy is looking forward to connecting with you in the coming weeks and months! You can reach out to Mandy and welcome her to GSS by sending her an email at mandy@goodsamservices.org. | | Congratulations to the Graduates of our first Job Training Cohort! | A big congratulations to these 6 outstanding gentlemen for graduating from our 10-week Job Training Program! Special thanks to our volunteer instructors and field trip locations.
We have a tremendous amount of gratitude for Jay & Leslie Miller. Jay was our facilitator for the program and also was an instructor; while Leslie provided meals for several of the classes.
We plan to offer this class again in the Fall of 2019. Stay tuned for more details! | | | Our Impact -- July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019 | | Over $100,000 was provided in rental assistance, Microloans and Matched saving checks. | | We provided shelter and housing to over 350 men, women, and children. | | "A place to call our own" | Congratulations to Ronisha (right) on receiving a $1,000 scholarship check from Good Sam to continue her education at Empire Beauty School! Ronisha and her daughter are in our Permanent Housing program.
"Good Sam transformed my life. I now have stable housing and I can keep up with all of my bills. Thanks to Good Sam I have a place for me and my children to call our own. Because of the help I have received, I am now able to further my education. I am enrolled in beauty school because my dream is to one day own my own salon. I am able to chase after my dreams and create a better future for my children. I would like to make enough money so that I am able to give back to others who are in need. If it weren't for Good Sam helping me, I don't think I would be doing as well as I am in life right now."
We are thrilled to support Ronisha as she pursues her career! Presenting Ronisha with her scholarship check is Christy Stoltzfus, Ronisha's case worker.
Every year Good Sam awards scholarships to clients. You can learn more about our Scholarship Program by visiting our website. | | The Gift that Keeps on Giving! | A big thank you goes to this generous donor, Dr. Jack Bryer (center), who recently donated his truck to Good Sam. Dr. Bryer donated his truck through our "Wheels of Hope" program. This program helps families break the cycle of homelessness by addressing the obstacles which keep them homeless. In order for families to move towards financial stability, jobs are needed. To secure a job with sustainable income, families must have reliable transportation.
Good Sam relies on vehicle donations to provide residents with this vital resource. Each donated car is presented to a single parent in our program, based on his or her level of need. Each beneficiary receives training on car care by a local auto mechanic during his or her time with Good Sam.
