Bishop Earl Yoder will ordain four pastors serving within the district churches: Jonathan Martin, Kevin Dodge, Mert Maust and Ronald Beiler. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m at Glade Mennonite Church, 5011 Accident-Bittinger Road, Accident, MD 21520. A fellowship meal and a time of celebration will follow the ordinations. | | Greetings, Save the Date! Summer is approaching, and we are planning for a time to re-connect in mid-August. It is a comfortable Café spot, with a beautiful fireplace and soft music, it's the perfect place to enjoy something delicious and healthy. You can find a current menu here . | | Music in the Orchard highlights local artists Music fills the orchard at the 1719 Hans Herr House & Museum this summer featuring some of Central Pennsylvania's best local performers. Music in the Orchard showcases local musicians during concerts on July 20 and August 3, each starting at 6 p.m. Music in the Orchard returns to the 1719 Hans Herr House & Museum for another summer highlighting local artists. Concerts are every other week, June 8 through August 3, beginning at 6 p.m. in the bucolic Herr House orchard. Tickets are available on site and cost $8 per person, children under 12 are free; no advance registration is required. Chairs are not provided. Food and beverages will be available, including Herr House smoked sausage. Attendees are also welcome to bring a picnic dinner to eat as they listen. The 1719 Hans Herr House and Museum is an alcohol- and smoke-free environment. Concerts are held rain or shine. In inclement weather, the concert will move into the implement shed on the 1719 Hans Herr House & Museum grounds. In cases of severe weather, cancellations will be announced by 3 p.m. on the day of the concert. This event is one of over forty Lancaster Roots 2019 events. Lancaster Roots combines the events of the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society, 1719 Herr House & Museum, and Mennonite Information Center. | | A Book for Everyone During Bookworm Frolic Wednesday to Friday, August 14 to 16, 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday, August 17, 9 am to 4 pm. Explore 40,000 books on the grounds of Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society at its annual sale, "With such a variety of books, there is something for everyone," ~says Frolic organizer Jon Weaver-Kreider. Make incredible finds among the twenty-two categories offered. Fiction and children's literature as well as travel, music, and history are just a few of the popular categories. Hardback books are $3 and paperbacks are $1.50 for the first three days of the sale, and everything is half-price on Saturday. During the final two days of the Frolic, there is a "box deal" where prices are reduced even further—$15 per box on Friday, and $12 per box on Saturday. Records are $.50 and CDs/DVDs $3. They are also included in the half-price and box deals. The Bookworm Frolic is held rain or shine. While the sale is outside, a tent provides cover from rain and sun. A food truck, TJ's Ice Cream, will offer refreshments on Wednesday. The Society's year-round bookstore will be open as usual, selling new and used books, folk art, music, and family history resources.
